i have a major problem. hooked up a 4x8 tent, with 2x1000w bulbs, and 2xMagnum XXXl 8" hoods. i have a 8" C.A.P. fan and a 10,000btu portable a/c unit. i have all the heat porting out a window in my bathroom. i did a test run last night and inside the tent was 91 and outside tent was 77. i need inside the tent to be 77 and outside tent to be at least 70. i have long ducting going form the tent to the fan, then out my window. im highly debating taking the exhaust and porting it out my Arcadia door. and into my backyard. nobody has access to it. its a tony yard and it is a townhouse and not a house. what are my options? money is all gone and i have no options of making any other purchases. in fact if the ducting i have does not work, im quite screwed. i may need a piece of wood from Home Depot to make a frame to support the ducting and outs on the wood frame and stand it up in the frame of the Arcadia door. not the best choice for security. but i have no plans on leaving to go even to the grocery store. so i will be here with my shotgun 247. will this work? will shortening the length of the duct work and porting everything out into shorter ducting make a significate difference?? will i be bale to essentially cut out 10 degrees of heat? will placing the exhaust about 5ft closer to the hoods pull more heat out of the tent? i heard a 1000w light produces about 3,000btu of heat. if i have 2x1000w lights and am in a 10'x11' room with a 4x8 tent, how much btu's would i need in a portable a/c unit to make this work? i was in a 4x4 set up and everything was fine until an "investor" cam along hyped me up with claims of helping me build a new, BIGGER room, then backed out last minute, AFTER i had started everything and got everything going. i suppose i may have to kill more then 10 full grown healthy veg plants and go back to my original 4x4 tent. :wall::wall:

everything was running fine with my 4x4 set up. FML!

Hiya.

I've got 3 2x3x6 cabs and a 4x8x6 tent all in the same 11x11 room. . I've had issues with heat and considered a window AC unit. Instead, I have all hot exhaust ducted into the attic going through a carbon scrubber. The adjacent room is a bathroom, so I detached the AC duct and re-routed it into the grow room. I now get double the AC and it completely took care of my problem. I don't need AC in that tiny bath, we always have the door open so it gets plenty, plus we rarely use it. Haven't grown during summer, but if switching lights on to nighttime doesn't help with the 120' heat, I'll re-route another duct that goes to a room that has 2 vents and is generally cold and empty. Best part about my solution, no extra cost. As a matter of fact, I use less AC now because it effectively cools so well. Hope that helps.

Don't get rid of your bigger setup, just don't use the entire area until you can afford it. Think simplistically. Often times we over-complicate things by over thinking them. Take a deep breath, relax. If its meant to be, it will be.

If you have an attic, stick your hot exhaust up there. I know you're in a TH, but some have attics. If its too far, the look to merge into an existing exhaust vent, like for the dryer or stove hood.

Also, the more turns and bends in your ducting, the less effective it gets with each angle. Simplify.

i run a very similar setup, i have my magnums on their own 8" fan down to 6" reducer which only comes on lights on, i tried to push through the lights but is a no go,
i have another 8" fan running on my filter on a fan controller. i have flaps on both sides open for intake and temps are only ever few degrees farenheit above ambient room temps with out any aircon running.
stick with it, a few tweaks and you'll get it, good luck bro.

To get the rest of the room to around 70 you should really look into wrapping the tent in reflective foil barrier. They also have capabilities to block sound pickup devices and thermal imaging, This concept is used by nasa except they use real gold to block radiation better. Its cheap, can be found on ebay and most lowes carry it. I use it on my attic and plan to do the underside of my house. Its purpose is to not let heat pass through it.You should get the perforated kind to allow moisture out as well .

i think i have figured it all out!! i couple of headbangs on the brickwall, a few buddies different inputs and BAM!!! im gearing up for a very plentiful harvest. now, only if it could come soon enough. im flat broke and have no herbs for the first time in at least 5 years. anything to save this grow. now my concern is the flowering stretch. i have never grown these strains. i started them in flower and they are 2ft. some are a tad taller, some a tad smaller. i know about the stretch, im not a no0b. i just do not know if these will double or triple. i really hope they only grow double. 4ft is going to be huge for the tent, and the highth of the hoods may kill the little space i may have. i suppose i could lst a few of them. but i have one that is easily going to yield 8oz+!!! shes a huge monster! im gearing up for a long, busy, sleepless summer!!

C ooltubes over the 1000w will end the heat problem and double you harvest at least.
