Has anybody here ever grown shrooms?

I was thinking about trying it out.
Just wondering if anyone has bought the kit, or if you made your own and just bought the spores.

I've grown them before, but only using the kits. But it all depends what your goal is. If you just want to grow a few, for you and a friend or two, check out the kits IMO they are worth the money. I can get over an ounce from the kits I use, so thats plenty for me and teh wife to last for a while. They are also easier to use, pretty much fool proof.

Of course if you're looking for perpetual grows or large quantities, then methods like pf tek and others are more what you'd be interested in. Check out shroomery.org for a wealth of information on those techniques.

How you grow depends on what you want, but what I used to do was buy spore syringes from www.sporeworks.com, inject them into sterilized jars of birdseed, and then spawn the birdseed to compost from www.tennstud.com into fruiting trays with a thin casing layer. This is the way you wanna go if you want mountains of shrooms, but its a lot of work compared to some of the kits. Everything you need to know about growing can be found at www.shroomery.org
