harvesting

I have a couple plants that are getting close to harvest judging by the trichs and time. I have yet to get some shears so figured I probably need to get on that, so anyone have any preferences, there are too many different types for me to guess what will be best. Please let me know what you use!

I like curved spring scissors.
(edit, so I post a picture of straight scissors, derp.)

I can get these at a non-hydro plant store for about $11.

Just a little tip -- I had a first harvest a month or so ago. Never understood why people didn't like harvesting -- I thought it must be fun to cut them down. And it is. But trimming is a fucking nightmare! I had only two smallish plants (yield 3oz dry bud each), and each one took about 6 hours to trim. I was pretty meticulous, so I understand it. But it was exhausting. Took me from 10pm to 4am for one plant, and 2pm to about 8pm for the other.

You do want spring-loaded scissors like the Fiskers. You also want something called Sap Off Soap (SOS) -- if you're ordering from HTG, it's there. It's a creamy gritty scrub that takes off resin. You'll find after trimming a plant that the resin will gum up the scissors. Just scrub the blades with the SOS, and they'll be clean and work smoothly again.

Works on hands, too. You just need a small bottle of it -- a little goes a long way.

i use scissors that little girls use for cutting out pics. they're really cheap and clean easily with alcohol. if they get too gummed up just replace them. GL

You should be! It's an awesome feeling getting to harvest! Now you need just a little more patience with drying and jarring...but it's worth it. My harvest was mid January and I have two big mason jars full of the best weed I've ever had. They've now cured just beautifully. The smoke is so smooth that I have yet to hear someone cough on my weed even once, and I sure don't. I can't imagine that I'll ever buy again unless I know the grower has done it all right, just like I would.
