Harvesting times?

Okay so i have 1week and 6 days till harvest 8weeks of flowering!! I want a hip energetic high so when would i want to harvest my bad girl? Any information will help honestly lol THANKS

If your strain says 8 weeks that does not mean it will be done in 8 weeks. I am growing a strain that said 50-60 days and I am on day 70 now and still not ready. Go get a magnifier/loop like 30-60x should work and look at the trichs. There is tons of info on this topic on this site with pictures. Really it is genetics that will determine the high. Some will say harvesting early (clear mostly cloudy) will not be as couch lock as (cloudy/amber). You want to harvest when they are ready, you have come this far....I don't suggest pulling early. A sativa will give you a more energetic high but typically take longer to flower.

first things first.. what is the breed of your bad girl? indica's usually will go the 8-9 week grow but the sativa has and will take up to 14 weeks in flower alone so make sure you go by your breed specs and if you have none go by trichromes, cloudy is a good upidy high all amber will be a couch lock unless its a sativa. they are almost a upidy high but takes longer to flower.. if you get to your 8 week and it starts to show new growth on top then its a sativa. indica's will most of the time cap off and color, sativa's will grow these whispy twistie sprouts on the edges of your flowers amd will look very gnarly .. so time is of the essence ..

A ripe marijuana plant will be filled in and plump, will have an amber tinge to the buds. The pistils should have browned off and receded into the buds. The seed calyxs should be swollen and the trichomes should be sticking straight out with bulbous ends. Also, because you're coming close to the end of plant's life cycle, the leaves should have yellowed off and started to die.

Now a lot of people will tell you that you should harvest based on the color of your trichomes. In my opinon that is far too simplistic and there are too many variables to make that an effective strategy. If you want a 'cerebral' high, get a tropical sativa that contains a high level of THC-V and grow it until it is ripe. If you want the narcotic couchlock stone, grow a rugged indica until its ripe.

If I could offer one piece of advice on picking the right time to harvest, it's all about watching the pistils. Not so much the colour, but the movement. They should have receded into the bud and the seed bracts should be swollen.

Guide hasn't done me wrong yet. Used to worry about trich color, now I just concentrate on strain selection if I want a specific high.

Cloudy trichomes mean most THC means hip energetic high.
