Harvested...Smells like hay?

5 bubblegum, grown dank with 400 hps and fox farm nutes.. everything looks good but after trimming and hang to try.. the buds start to smell like hay.. does that always happen? its happened before to me.. and also.. Does curing usually change that shitty hay smell and does it usually change bud colors with some strains?

some strains do get that smell than change back in a few days of cureing and also if you harvested to early or stressed it really bag during growing.... good luck wit yer haydro

My plants were not stressed at all.. and are you sure curing will fix it? Is this hay smell thing common knowledge?

That's funny cuz not too long ago I got some bud they were supposedly calling bubble gum (it was SHITTY BUD) and it smelled just like hay. They musta fucked up the curing cuz it was moist and shitty.

That grass clipping smell is chlorophyll

If you give too much nitrogen in flower, or harvest too soon, the leaves may not drain of the chlorophyll.

Another cause would be drying too fast. The Chlorophyll is used up (drained) during a slow dry, and somewhat during the cure.

green cross is 100% right. id wager you harvested a little prematurely. good weed with that hay smell is beasters as far as im concerned

Lol beasters is weed from canada that is mass grown sifted of all its trichs, sprayed with chems and shipped to US and sells for about 30$ a slice. thats nto beasters but it may look like it, however it doest. this straing says 9/11 weeks. i harvested past the 11th week. so not premo... btw i heard somethign like they arnt ready until the pistils go BACK INSIDE the bud... i know about hte clody trichs but im wonderign about that... ty +reps

what was the drying temps like? how long did u hang them for?

my last harvest was like that smell dried too fast from heat, but once cured for about 2-3 weeks the smell came back

9-11 weeks is just a guide it could take longer depending on conditions. high temps during flower could screw ya too
