Harvested bud has molded. What are my options?

I harvested my plants and left them to dry while I was out of town. I came back to find a lot of the buds have a webby white mold on them now, tiny yellowish ball-spores growing on the ends of the hairs, and white dusty mold that floats out when I handle it.

I understand that smoking it is now most likely a bad idea, so what else can I do to try and salvage my crop?

I've heard that you can use iso alcohol and bubble bags to make hash out of moldy bud, but all the posts I've read mentioned using 99.9% iso alcohol; the highest concentration I can find at Wal-Mart is 91%.

If anyone could offer any solutions or ideas, they would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard of a couple of ideas from reading forums if this happens, but it seems choices are limited.

The option you stated, you could use butane, alcohol or other solvent, and then use a micron filter to make sure nothing else passes through.

I would go with making gumby hash, you basically put everything with ice in a blender. All of the mold floats to the top and you skim it off along with all of the other garbage. Then, what settles at the bottom is the good smokables. You should be able to find the video on youtube. Its called the Gumby Hash Method or something. Bubble Bags would be even better, that's what I use, but if you don't have time or money, gumby method at least leaves you with something smokable.

Another one that I may try if i was in your position is to do a water cure. Generally this is done when the buds are fresh though. The principal is that over a seven day period of soaking in water changed out every 24hrs, the buds will release ferts, pests, mold, etc. and then can be speed dried, and it actually gives a more potent product. (not more thc, more bad stuff is taken out in water cure, so instead of 20% thc in 20 grams of normally dried cured bud, you will have 23% but only around 16-17 grams or so. Potency percentage up, no increase in actual thc present.) Also hear it makes for a really smooth smoke, even with no flush. Will probably try this next time I have a problem near harvest time. You should be able to google water curing buds and find exact process and more details.

Well, that's about all I know on the subject. Hope it helps.
