Go to Harbor Freight, they carry decent loupes. Radio Shack sells a small hand held Carson Cooper scope that magnifies from 60 to 100. It's nice but hard to hold still to examine on the plant. You could buy a macro lens for a camera or a camera with macro ability and last but not least there are hand held digital microscopes you can use for this. I'm probably getting one of those. It's really necessary to look at the trichomes all over your plant and over the other plants or at least that info helps me.

Most people on RIU are gonna tell you to go get a magnifier to check your trichomes... its true, that is the best way to tell. You should get a decent 30-60x magnifier and check those trichs!

Without some really close-up macro shots of that bud, I don't think anyone can give you a definite answer.

But judging by that pic, I'd wait another week or so

Give it one more week and you wont regret harvesting her ... As said above your trichomes are milky and thc is at its peak now .. Let her ripen up a little more but don't let all the hype of trichome ambering lead you wrong .. Unless you desire such but even then realize that just as strains differ so do trichomes and there development .. Some Sativas will never amber until jarred and aged ..

exactly, I bought a couple different ones before I found that little gray one. It's super cheap and works perfect.

Not that I'm anywhere near harvesting (just turned to flower last night), but about how expensive should a good scope be? Granted prices vary, but are we talking an average of $20, $100, etc.? Just want quality without overpaying.

That's just pretty, and inspired me to buy one immediately! I wasn't lucky enough to score a 1 cent one, but I grabbed a 30X/60X one for like $4.50 on amazon just now.

I prefer 45x mag. 60x is too close for me, 30x is not close enough.
the bigger the lens the better.

you definitely want a lighted one.
