Harvest: trichomes vs pistils

Almost all the pistils turned brown and getting darker every day but trichs have just started to become milky. I dunno if this is normal. Is 30x loupe enough? i started to think i may not be able to see color change. what say you

you'll be able to see the change and it will be worth it, the trichs need to degrade (turn milky/amber) to get you high :eyesmoke:

As the photo there shows you will be able to see the colour change... Trichomes are the most important factor not the hairs...

the color of the pistils is not an indicator of ripeness. i have some strains that the hairs are solid red at day 35 but not done until day 56. trichs only.

It's quite simple if you want a matured plant just let it go until it gets a light brownish glow to them and there you go bobs your uncle.

I say use the length of the hairs, more than the color of them, to tell when to start checking the color of the trichs.
If you have really long white hairs (lots of them) them you shouldn't even worry about having any amber trichs yet.

I understand the problem of not knowing cuz your not being able to see it clearly, I have a 30x jewerlers loupe and I can't see the trichs that clearly, mine look just as the pictures show, ends are crystal like in color, and I'm not sure on the changing of colors. Quess I bought the wrong scope, gonna try the Radio Shack Illuminated micoscope for $13.00.

The 30 power you have should be enough to see good.
I have bad eyes, and the 30 is good enough for me.When the trichs are clear, they can appear crystal as you called it, (clear or transparent), but when you look, if there are any cloudy, you will know right away something is different. Amber, you will see right away also.
I usually check mine, moving side to side and forward and back, to see them from different angles to maybe catch the light differently.
