Harvest Time

whats up guys i just have one question. all of my top buds are nice sized and almost finshed at 8 week but all of the bud undeath are incredably small i was wonder should cut them off now and make the plant focus on the top nuggets or should i wiat harvest the tops and lets the bottom buds grow longer to mature? any help would be appreciated.

i havent heard much of people harvesting jsut the tops and letting the rest mature is it even worth it or should i cut them off and make the plant focus on the tops anyone?????

Cut the tops first if they are done to you're liking. Then harvest the lower buds as they mature to your liking. Hope this helps. ~~Happy Grown:weed:~~

Letting them ripen, especially if they are not fully mature. If you chop now, you got what you got... Let it mature (If it is not already) and not only could you have more potent buds, but they could just as easily swell larger as they become fully mature.

you can definitely cut only the ripe buds and let the rest finish. this is a practice that is fairly old. i got this info from a book i bought back in 2003

the tops are amazing around 30 percent orange hairs rock hard buds but its really only the top buds maybe 3 nodes down have good size i know its because my lighting issue they were crowded togther tightly under a single 1000 watt hps all greenhosue seeds cheese w.w. el nino himalya gold and lemon skunk what do you think my tops would gain if i jsut cut the small stuff or would it be a loss

i cant tell you how much your tops would improve if you trim the small buds, but i have always gone about the practice of trimming branches that i feel would yeild less than an eight. in my experience i have never had a branch that produced less than an eight form tight dense buds (on larger plants of course). i try to trim the branches that produce loose fluffy, less desirable buds.

Cut the buds that are ready and let the smaller ones at the bottom finish up if you want. kmksrh21, regarding your sig, was tpsmc REALLY refering to trichromes? I'll die if he was...

Haha Yeah! That's why I had to make it my sig... It's fuckin hilarious.. he grows these beautiful plants and actually suggests throwing it out... I couldn't stop laughing for a good hour... Here's the original thread.... https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/441263-fungus-my-buds.html ~~Happy Grown:weed:~~

Luckily he posted on RIU otherwise he wouldnt be smoking the dank ass bud he grew though... Live and learn. I love this site.

you can go ahead and harvest the tops and let the lower buds mature more. personally i just cut it all at once. i dont want to waste the extra time and space in my flower room. as far as cutting the lower branches goes, i think it is too late for that to affect the top buds at all. if you cut all that underdeveloped growth before flower or in the first few weeks like wk 1-3 of 12/12, then the top buds will be bigger but if you do it too late in flower then it will reduce yield on the lower branches. once you are somewhat familiar with the strain you are growing and know how it stretches and develops, then it is easier to know which lower bud sites should be removed.
