Im posting a thread of my harvest because posting pics in my journal is a pain with a touchscreen. This plant took 91 days from seed.I use a supersoil and water with rainwater or R/O water.I vegged for 4 weeks using 115w of cfl's and 3 24" t8's,topped her, then switched to 12/12 using 18 cfl's, then with about 4 weeks left i added a 42w cfl,24" t5 and a 26w 10.0 uvb cfl.....then sat back and watched the majic happen:).I ended up with 4.9 oz or 138 grams.....dry:)!1202121920-1.jpg1201121109.jpg1209120748a.jpgPhoto12091015.jpgPhoto12091019.jpg1209121135.jpgPhoto12091020.jpgPhoto12161219.jpg
Now a bonus for me:)This is a plant I started indoors 12/12 fs and I put her outdoors when she started to flower.......supersoil and rainwater1207120859.jpg1207120900.jpg1216121156.jpg
I just want people to know cfl's CAN grow quality weed, supersoil IS the way to go if your trying to have a low maintenance grow.TRUST ME:eyesmoke:peace

I NEED AN HONEST ANSWER/OPINION....PLEASE:)
Would I have had a better grow with a 400w hps?...............maybe someone who has actually grown both ways could have an opinion. My plant was grown in a water wicking 5g bucket,supersoil,448w flourescent bulbs, rainwater no nutes, she vegged for 5 weeks and flowered for 56 days...i think and was topped once but grew 4 main colas, she was 36 inches at the tallest point. It's just some regular or reggie(mexi-brick)as we call it around here...... as you see from first post 138g it smokes better and tastes better(sensimilla)than what I bought.....more potent?probably not....but im not complaining........NOW would I have gotten better results with equivalent watt hps? Thanks for any responses.peace

go with the hps you will not regret it .i think most people start with cfls , and then that nagging question comes along in your head ' could i have done better with hps ' the answer is usually yes , i was a stubborn bastard for years and refused to admit i could do better with hps , cfls will grow you top quality weed but believe me the hps makes them nuggs hard and dense , and i have never looked back since making the change . plus its so much easier using one light you can move up or down easily instead of moving all those little lights .make the change and you will see the difference straight away , everything happens so much quicker and better with hps and it cant be beaten imo , the pros use hps for a reason .

absolutely, no doubt about it, there is just no way CFLs can compare to equivalent HPS wattage in intensity and that is what gives the light the power to reach below the canopy with enough lumens to do some good, CFL's lose much of their intensity within just a few inchs so the taller your plant the more larf your gonna get lower down.

...CFLs are a perfect way for new people to give this hobby a try because you can set yourself up for under a hundred bucks and if it turns out you don't like watering plants all the time, you can just use the bulbs around the house, you haven't invested 2 or 3 hundred in a HID ballast or hood.

CFLs are also very flexible AND versatile, using multiple bulbs allows you to tweak your spectrum depending on which type of growth you're looking to promote, blue for vegging and red for flowering, PLUS, it provides MULTIPLE points of light which benefits you in 2 ways, first, it spreads your light evenly over your canopy and secondly it spreads the heat of the bulbs over the canopy which makes it less intense, ...touch a 400watt HPS just once and i promise you, you won't want to do that again, lol.

...all of which make them perfect for new people and broke people, lol, which was why i chose them when i first started out and i grew under nothing but CFLs for nearly 2 years in a high-density micro-SOG, ...go take another look at those pics i posted above, ...all those plants were flipped with no veg time at all and most finished at 18 to 20 inchs and if you can get it down to 12 - 14, mores the better.

...go easy man, if you rush you're much more likely to make mistakes, ...measure twice and cut once.

I will never go to HPS simply because I can not control the temperature as well as I would be able to in a grow tent. Using a closet that's right next the to hot water tank = fail. But I guess it could be useful in masking heat detection from infrared cameras?

However, I was sick of the prices and quality of the smoke I was getting so I just got me a 200w 2700k CFL and 3 30w(117w light output) bulbs from Asda and it's all tickitty-boo.

Yes it nags but I know better I spent maybe $60 on various bulbs and right off the bat an equal watt hps bulb/hood would cost $120

I hear where both you guys are coming from im just like y'all?........maybe...anyway I too know all the pro and cons for both, that's why I went cfl........I mean for the money i've spent I don't think I would have done better with equal money($100max) on hps system in my closet.... I have cut a hole of closet ceiling with a 8in fan sucking air into the attic,my temp stay 84f w/40% humidity.thanks again for the responses.I have nothing against hids,it's just the ease and simplicity of using cfl's....well y'all know what im saying.peace.
