That's for one seed? Ridiculous. And, anyone who would charge that kind of money for a seed would have no problem sending a schwag seed either.

i really really want these starfighters to be super dank and everything they say it is.. but at the end of the day, it looks to sketchy.. :/ we don't know who bid, we don't know if it got pushed. We won't see any grows until after the first round of BINS drop, i bet they will be expensive. frankly i don't know a lot about the breeder scene (not as much as I should) but I had never heard of this dude until like 3 months ago, and bam hes a god among men.. :/

I am in a major search for some fire that is not in this region as we speak, so my eyes are wide open.. my fingers are crossed that this isnt a scam.. but i didn't pay money either ;)

we will see..

star fighter just sold for 5000$ 15 seeds.....thats fucking crazy
I guess with researchers and engineers and everything else that goes into genetics, it would not be unreal to see this kind of money. Hell, baseball , as well as other sports, pay needless sums of money for talent, just to win. I guess I will just continue buying second tier cigarettes, instead of tier ones. Bottom line, they all go up in smoke.

Cerb - the Alien genes have been around for a couple years and are very well proven. That being said, i wouldn't pay that kinda money for them unless i was a breeder with a real need (and a fistful of spare cash) for an F1 stud male.

I guess.. I was learned about him because his story is the same as the MOB story, which is a little odd in itself. and as i said i don't know enough about breeders to say his standing.. but the proof will be in what he marks his BIN's for.. do you think that was a solid legit auction? do you think 5 people bought seeds for 4-6k each?

The Farm has enough serious players that i don't doubt it. I've heard enough reliable stories of select genes going for the long dollar ($10k+ clones, for example) from my friends on the West Coast that i'm not willing to believe almost anything.

i hear that. I have a few friends behind the redwood forest and after seeing this a asked what they thought and they said the same thing, BUT only as hear say. I don't know anyone personaly or know anyone that knows anyone personally that spent a K on a good cut, let alone the money people talk about.. either way, i would LOVE to see some third party grow reports of that.

fuck that noise yo, i don't know how you could justify a ROI with that kind of cash, dropped on 2 f1 parents none the less.. lol

Where is all of this info you guys read?

I've been in touch lately with the largest genebank in the world. For Cannabis and all other plants.

I think they would laugh at some of this stuff. Unless I read what you guys are reading and it all made sense. Then I take it back. :)

tough question to answer for me; the places I go for some inside info, (and now inside line on the genetic's market) aren't really public domain. So the idea of going to the worlds largest, is the exact opposite of these boutique genetics.. we are disscussing Alien genetics, who is on THCFARMER.COM but as you have read, this is NOT where i will get my next seeds, but maybe take a look at gage green genetics, or alphokronik.. also take a look at the seed collectors thread here on RIU.

like glass, its no longer about the brand name but the actual artist/breeders name..

I thought so, was just waiting for you to mention that less than credible site. However, there is one guy on there I used to chat with quite a bit. He just grew harlequin, SN was caregiverken I believe.

I get most of my info from Cannetics.com. I have a buddy that's a breeder there and was able to finagle a private membership where i lurk and eavesdrop on a discussion between breeders.

Cannetics has a breeder's market at Cannazon.com with auctions and forums if anyone is interested in checking it out. Gage Green and Alphakronik both have gear listed atm.

Neat! I will check it out MB!

I love getting into the discussions and asking questions... even stupid ones. But I much prefer sources where I can get all or most of my info in one place, from different people of the similar credibility and intelligence - then decipher for myself how I feel about what they say and do. That does for everything I'm involved with. :)

Especially with Cannabis, I have seen some breeders make very intelligent statements and then borderline idiotic ones at the same time. It's frustrating because those people do put the time and effort into the plant, and with that does comes knowledge... but they also spread a lot of propaganda with what they do and portions of it aren't true. Unfortunately, the people they reach listen to everything they say.

One day I hope canna science and marijuana breedering can be thought of as interchangeable studies and researchers can work together. Similar to how they have with hemp and have also with psychological studies of marijuana. Then I think the benefits and misconceptions of mmj and marijuana as a whole MAY be put to rest. :)

I have no doubt like I said that many of the commercial breeders have learned a thing or two in their time. But as I also said - you wonder what some of these (national) seed banks with hundreds of specimen from all over the world would say to this. As they take vial number 205 with 3,000 seeds of the shelf and sow a test plot with 1,000 plants to save that "landrace". :) Casually jotting the results and consulting with their peers about the latest trials and findings. Makes you wonder.... are on the right path?
