Hello All,

First post on the boards, been a great site as I get setup.

Anyways, I wanted to post a short review of an Ontario (Canada) seed bank that I recently used. They are in the Sublime Cafe in Toronto. Their website is www.happygirl.ca
Where they say they are called Toronto420.

Not sure why they have so many names. Regardless, I went into the sublime cafe, grabbed a nice coffee and asked the cashier about the seed bank.

She proceeded to give me a hefty binder with all the strains they had available which gave some nice detailed information on whether they are indoor/outdoor, feminized, avg. yeild, size, and for medical users what the experience is like.

I asked some questions she could not answer, so she gave me the cell of the owner "Mark" whom I called and was extremely friendly and knowledgable (check out the website for a nice and easy growers guide, the webpage does suck for formatting IMHO).

After talking to Mark I decided on some AK-47 feminized seeds by Rare Earth Seeds, as it was my first grow and he recommended it for my medical needs and relatively ease of growth. My $80 got me 5 seeds in a little plastic container.

I followed the instructions given to germ them, which is basically the paper towel method, and 2 days later 1 seed has already germinated. 2 more have cracked the shell, but no roots yet. I have transfered the single seed to a soil medium and will continue to monitor the other seeds.

Overall I would say the experience was 5/5 with dealing with them in person, I have not seen any reviews on the mail order portion, but the owner said mailing within Canada has never been a problem if I don't want to head into Toronto and need more seeds.

Right now I would put the seeds as unknown as only one has germinated (quickly!). I will post a follow up in a few more days to let everyone know how things are going.

Lates,

Yesterday after work I had another seed that germinated and another this morning. So up to 3/5 for germination on day 3.5.

Three and a half days to germinate seeds?
Thanks for posting, if I'm ever in Toronto I will stop in there. How is their shipping policy and success rate?
Being on the west coast there are dispensaries to choose from but for seeds I prefer banks.
I order online most of the time from Attitude, Reserva Privada and TGA Subcool.
I still can't believe that germ time. After 72 hrs I call it a dud.

From what the guy was saying he never had issues shipping in Ontario. Not sure what it would be like out of province. He seemed really helpful, so maybe email him or post on his web forum?

I am up to 4/5 seeds busting a little root. Are you saying 3 days is a long time? I read 3-10 days so I thought I was doing pretty good. Still learning as I go though.

Thier just high priced seed flippers.
There's some in Montreal also.

Lol at them selling greenhouse's 5 Bubba Kush femenized seeds for 150 $.
30 dollars a fukin seed
That's fukin hilarious.

Dopeseeds and herbiesheadshop based out of the UK sells those same greenhouse 5 packs for 30 UK pounds (48.50 $ cad) and 10 packs for 53 pounds(85 $ cad). Been using them for years. No probs

Hey Muathaibanger, thanks for the info. This is my first foray into this and I just liked the fact I could walk in and walk out with the seeds. Looking at those sites and others, there is definately a premium on the price (and then some!)

Right on dude.Just passing the info. on their jacked up prices.
I guess if people don't want to go through the mailing process and don't mind paying 3 times the prices,it is convenient.

I go to sublime cafe and have had great success with there seeds.
I would never buy ghs anyway so i don't give a crap about the price jacking.
They sell local seed breeder seeds for cheap and they have great genetics
and if they don't germinate mark the owner will give you new seeds for free.
I have had 100% germination with there 420 seeds and there rareearth seeds which are all from my area.
Mark will also help you out with any questions you got with growing.
5 seeds for $40 or 5 feminized for $80 is a fair price imho.

They also got Dutch passion,Serious seeds,Barney's farm ,and DNA's seed prices jacked to the max.
So yeah, they can go fuck themselves.

If people wanna go spend the $$$ on seed flippers,go right ahead.
Nothing outta me.
I'm just passing on info. for people to save $$$ on this site.

To wrap up the review, my 5th seed germinated yesterday and the other 4 are starting to look like tiny seedlings of about 1.5" in size on a 16/8 cycle (doing this for a week and a bit before they go to 18/6 and full light).

Unless the feminized seeds turn out to be all dudes, I won't update anymore.

Overall, the buying experience was 10/10. Value, compared to online seedbanks make it seem like a 5/10, but I like immediate gratification so would still give it a 7/10 since I paid more to walk out with seeds and no hassle of shipping from overseas and waiting.

I've been ordering for about 5 years now and have never, ever had a problem,so for me, I don't consider ordering from the UK a hassle.Place your order and voila, seeds here in 5-10 bussiness days.

Yeah,I hear what your saying, walk in and out with seeds. But if you think it's worth 3 times as much, then thats your opinion and choice.

Definately going to try the online places you mentioned for my next go. Its all a learning experience ;)
Absolutely.Thatys what sites like these are for.
I'm not fond of those expensive seed flippers.
I feel they rip people off for what they pay buying from breeders.

If you want the best bang for your buck(potency and what u pay),then the White widow/Big Bud cross was the best for the price. About 7 $ per seed from dopeseeds.
It's an X-line strain.Been growing it every year for 4 years now outdoors. Never had a hermie yet.Good yield and nice tight golden buds.

Sa-wat-dee kraup Thai Banger,

What province are you in that you got those quick deliver dates from the UK?

I want to make sure I time things right after these babies are harvested.

The pakages are sent out via Royal Mail Airmail.
I think they send their orders out twice per week.(dopeseeds that is)
I've had to wait 3 weeks once out of 7-8 orders over 4 years or so..
That was the only time I had to wait like that.
Never did find out the holdup.
Emailed JIM at dopeseeds and he told me to wait another week, then if I didn't get it,he would send me the same order free of charge.
He's good like that to work with.
It came the next day.

You're in Ontario,so you'll recieve airmail from the UK just as quick as the atlantic
provinces recieve it.

also use the promotional code "420" and get 15% off your entire order!
In plan on trying attitude because of the fact they carry Mr. Nice seeds.
Probably the best breeders in the world.
Dopeseeds based out of the UK is great and all but dont carry Mr. nice seeds.

From my experience, I got 2 packs of 5 northern lights seed totalling 10 seeds.

Wasnt really sure on my grow set up so I got 2 packs but I ended up finding out how to clone ... had 9 of the 10 seeds germinate, and one dud , didnt really care though.

Did a small sog grow with 7-8 clones from each mother, about 20% of the clones showed any true northern lights/INDICA traits while the rest stretched like a mofo and after 9 weeks STILL looks like they need another 3 weeks.

Any plant with indica traits (what Im looking for in a mother plant) have barely any yield, maybe 3-4 grams flowering from rooted clones. So out of the 9 mothers maybe 1 or 2 of them are actual indica plants but yield crap.

At this point im sort of kicking my self in the ass why I didnt go with a reputable seed bank with quality genertics in the first place.
Was hoping a decent yield but my yield isnt looking so great and Im stuck with a LONG flowering sativa like plant, where in fact I dont even like the sativa high!!!

Northern lights definately fit my preferences but maybe Ill try another seed bank ... That means Ill have to waste more time vegging and growing a new mother out.
