Happy 420 everybody, How did pot smoking and the numbers 420 merge? Why is the number 420 associated with weed?
Is it a time when a group of stoners would gather to get high 4:20?
Is it when you plant your outdoor crop 4/20?
I know there are many theories, lets hear yours.
Share your opinion on why the numbers 420 is associated with weed.

Always heard it was the students somewhere who started the whole expression.
Years before I ever heard the expression we had a guy at work who used to scream:"5 o'clock high!". every day. always at 4:45 pm. Still liked him despite the shrieking.

round here they said it was the California police code for catching people smoking I know that is not true now..mabe that s because it is the perfect time to get high after you get home from school but before your parents get home

My mom,went to a high school back in the 70s and when the teachers left at 4:20 they whould light up she went to high school in Florida

I just read your post like right after I posted about my mom lol but her and like 7 other people lit up exactly when the last teacher left the parking lot she said that the sienors did it and her and her boyfriend chip were smoking in school they chould smoke at like 16 so they just mixed it with tobacco and put it in a cigarette

i always heard it was the story about some friends who'd all meet up after school, 420, for a smoke session.. think it was out in cali some where..
saying that though, i absolutely hate, hate, hate 420.. it's the most retarded thing ever, imvho, and it'll be a cold day in hell before i ever think about celebrating such a retarded stoner concoction like 420.. sorry, i just think it's soo played out, and over hyped, and beyond retarded..

I hid in the bushes in 8th grade during school. We skipped Language Arts and I got so baked I stayed in the bushes a good long time, the went back to Language and took a spelling tests. Ended up getting 100% but my writing wa H-U-G-E. That's all I remember about that…I thought 4:20 was a police code for possession

My mom was in high school starting in 1974 so the people at her school probably heard it from the waldos but they figured out that the last teacher left at 4:20 so yeah
