Hacking a light

I had bought what I believe to be a great led light..but it doesn't fit in my cab by about 4 inches..is their a way I can hack it ie taking off the cover or whatever in order to make it fit? Would it be only the chip board and fan exposed? Have anyone ever opened up an led and used it without a cover? The light has only been on for less than 30 seconds just to make sure everything was in correct order. Only problem is that it don't fit..

you can probably take it out of the case, but you may end up having to build a frame for it out of aluminum angle pieces...and make sure none of the connections can make contact with your frame
Yeah I'm not going to want to do all that shit. That sucks I can't just take off the cover and use it but I guess it's there for a reason.

I bought a fairly big blurple LED a few years ago but ended up lending it to a friend as it was only and experiment to test against some COBs I built. I recently got it back (it was a bag of shit btw) and opened it up to see what I could salvage.

If its anything like the one I have , which it likely is, the frame is part of the structural support, the panel the fans are attached to screw in to the frame, the drivers are glued to another piece which is fastened to the frame, then the leds themselves are attached to another sheet which again is attached to the frame, with the frame off you have a lot of floppy shit, no way to hang it and the frame only adds 2-3" to the width of the whole unit.

Maybe yours is different but they seem to all be constructed with the same shite.

There is only one way to know for sure though...
