High everyone this is my first post. I,am glad to be mixing with a bunch of greenthumbs i don,t know if i,am worthy sure hope so. Hey i was wondering about well water which i have it smells like sulfer and taste rough but the ph is perfect 6.5 right out of the nozzle but i noticed after useing distilled water the plants went nuts then i went back to the well and the plants went back to slow growth so i was wondering a cheap way of distilling my well water are cleaning it up to achieve faster more happier plants . i don,t want to go ossmosses it waste to much water and remember i don,t pay a water bill but the 220 pump that runs it sure tacks up the electric bill. were talking about 100 gallons a week are two plus adding here and there caused by evp. its a homemade aerophonics compined with bubblephonics and combined with hydrophonics with a nutra mist 10 fogger and a hakko lake air pump buts out 100 liters a minute pushed into 8- 4inch defussers on the bottom theres 8 inchs of water then a 4 inch air space then a wire mashed screen holding 6inchs of foam worm packing material thats right foam worms it is then tapped of with 2 inchs of pea gravel then theres a cover that derects water away from the sides when we flood the system every 5 to 10 minutes. the system works good enough for a every 3 to 3half month turn around but the big 4x 8 top medium holder is a bear to clean i,ve found the foam worms to make it light enough to carry the hole thing out side and clean them up we get them free which makes them even better has anyone else out there used them are something close and can you see anything about this system that could be upgrade ?? yea i forgot there a wirlpool pump that weve also added along with a wirlpool bed turned upside down it comes on every 8 hours and mixes the resevoir for 1 minute the pump has a incoming air line which when water passes by it picks up air and pulls it thru a 1/4 line into the derect pump water it will surpize you how much air it can bring in but we have left it unhooked because i read you should not bring in air thru your water pumps what do you all think do you think i should hook it up? Also i have a ton of air i always joke with my buddy saying one day were going to go check the plants and they will be blown thru the ceiling and roof and he saids hey then we got the sun and we won,t need lights we will save some cash. hey i checked out the forum before signing up that cat that wrote the pages on growing what a setup that dude rocks hes got it going on dude big time alot of the guys on here are unbelieveabilty smart dudes the have surpassed the old red bud days like light years but there still depending on those old genetic strains to get the job done i bet those old red bud plant which they could plant there roots into some of these new growing systems they were always stuck in the dirt but thats not all bad some of the best i,ve smoked was grown in cow shit mixed in dirt. THANKS GUYS:hump:

Thanks bro. Im sorry but I dont know how you can clean the water without a filter. Maybe a britta filter might help. What is the ppm of your water?

Yeah, well, I'll try to help you. Let me get this straight, I think I know what you mean, you want to know about ...

what do you want to know? :-?

Oh yeah, well water. I don't know about your well water. Call your county Dept of Agriculture, they will tell you everything you need to know to grow with that water.

HTH

Big Bud..... you have $h1tty well water and you don't want to keep investing in distilled and you also don't want to invest in an RO because of the water waste which you don't pay for but have to pay for the well pump?

Sounds like you need to find out what's causing the bad well water then buy and install the proper filter to fix the well water.

My well water culprit was iron. it was four times higher than what was acceptable for human consumption. Had to install a $900 iron filter, then BAM great water lead to great looking plants. I also don't mind drinking it too.... ;)

hth,
k.

I don't know shit about disolved metals in your water or if a distiller would get rid of them but you can buy water distillers for cheap

Water reservoir and bubbler should do the trick. There's complicated chemical reason behind it but here's the situation in a nutshell.

What's in your water is Hydrogen Sulfide(H2S), I could be wrong since this was found by just googling "sulfur molecules in well water". Hydrogen Sulfide at room temperature is a gas, which is partially the reason why it is so easy to smell. Water is not, why you may ask? Because it is polar, meaning the intermolecular forces between H20 molecules are fairly strong. Not the case with hydrogen sulfide although it is capable of hydrogen bonding with water.
This situation is remedied with bubbles which constantly pass molecular nitrogen and oxygen through the solution (also capable of hydrogen bonding with hydrogen sulfide). As the nitrogen and oxygen passes up through the solution it catches little hydrogen sulfides on the way up, as hydrogen sulfide prefers the less competitive attractions with the free O2 and N3, then it bubbles off with the air.

You'll lose a decent amount of water in the process, and it won't be super effective, but it is a way. Just an idea I guess!

just so you know here in the mother land, if your lucky you can get good well watter. we all go and get it tested, have you ever herd of beneficial microbes. well a lot are found in underground water . but some wells got bad stuff like amoeba and all that fun (well un fun) stuff. i think you should go get it tested.
