H202 question for those who run a sterile system

Hey all! Can someone with experience running a sterile system (hydroponics) using H202 please advise me how soon I can start dosing H202? Can it be used from day one (post germination) or do I need to wait for the plants to reach a certain point in their growth? Yes, I know bennies or pool shock are both great alternatives to H202 but I already have a jug of medical grade H202 on hand so I plan to use it for this run.

I use it to flush coco whenever I run into an issue with gnats. Wipes em out right away. I mean, you can use it pretty much whenever. You can soak seeds in it, dunk clones and cuttings in it, etc.

So it's fine to start using now? Seeds germinated and 2 of the 4 have shed their shells with the other two close behind.

Thanks man! I appreciate you answering that question for me. I've been scouring the internet for a few days trying to find the answer but there is absolutely no info about when to start using h202.

I've been running hydroguard and will be switching over to h202 for my next dwc run, this it the guideline I had found. Are you using 35% food grade or just h202 from the local store? I've planned on getting a large bottle, making my own dilute solution, then using per below every 4 days. I plan on using it once the roots have touched the reservoir.

Thanks! I didn't have any problems finding the dosing amount and dilution instructions. My dilema is that nowhere online states whether a plant needs to be a certain age before starting the H202. I know young seedlings are delicate and wasn't sure if they are too delicate for h202. My theory is that it shouldn't harm them as h202 is just water with an extra oxygen molecule. But high concentrations of h202 kills weeds etc so it led me to question whether a small amount could potentially be too much for a delicate seedling. I tend to overthink things.

from what I remember in the science in hydroponics videos, it's actually good to start on a low dosage early so the roots can become accustomed to it and the dosage can be increased gradually (whereas the roots don't acclimate to bleach so easily)

That was a very informative video. Thanks for sharing it! It is hugely helpful

i've never used peroxide in my res but i had no idea it lasted 4 days. i thought it neutralized within hours. that's kinda why i went with chlorine instead.

I have found hydrogen peroxide is only good for pythium treatment, it is not effective against gnat larvae and it clouds your solution when abused. Pool shock is the way to keep it crystal clear until next refill.
How soon do you start adding the pool shock? Is pool shock a source of calcium? If so would I need to ditch the calmag and use Epsom salt for magnesium alongside the shock? I'm using ro water which is void of cal and mag.

alot of people add pool shock to their cloners.

that's a good ? about how much Ca it adds, i would venture to say very little. you only want to run 5ppm of free chlorine max. if you are good at chemistry, you could probably figure out exactly how much Ca.
