Guns

In order to have a carry permit in NV, you must take a safety course initially and again after five years to renew. I just took my second renewal course a couple a months ago. I am not that paranoid that I have to carry everywhere, in fact I have hardly ever carried since I got my permit. The main reason I opted for a permit is that it allows you to have a handgun in your vehicle in any city-town in Nevada. Without it, you can be arrested in a few towns for having one in your vehicle. When I travel, I always carry a firearm, better safe than sorry. To go north from where I live, you must travel through North Las Vegas. That city has the strictest gun laws in Nevada. If you are caught with a gun there without a permit, it is an automatic 5 years in prison, I don't want any part of that scenario. With my permit, I am totally legal. Basically, the standard gun laws of Nv. are pretty lenient. As long as a city-town doesn't prohibit it, and you aren't an ex-felon, you can legally drive around with a gun in your car if it is in plain sight. Actually, you can wear a gun in plain sight, but the local police in Las Vegas will pounce on you if they see you, It scares the be-Jesus out of those pansies from Ca. to see this, and we are dependent on them for tourism. If you have a concealed carry permit, You must keep the gun concealed unless you intend to use it. Letting it be seen is called brandishing which will lose you your carry permit and a fine.

I ALWAYS carry, except where it's not practical, like going to the bank, or across the border into CA for lunch (damn hippies). Freedoms are like muscles. If you don't use them, they atrophy until they're gone.

The only problem with a NV permit is that NV doesn't have reciprocity in a lot of states, and I travel interstate. That's why I've got my paperwork for a FL permit - available by mail to non-residents and accepted in 31 (thereabouts...) states. UT is a good one also, but you need to be qualified by a UT trained safety instructor and apply in person.

This may sound like a stupid question, but why do you find it necessary to carry at all times. Are you paranoid, do you carry large sums of cash? What would make someone that wasn't a cop want to carry. Do you have a lot of people that want to cause you harm or do you just think it is cool to carry? I find that having a .45 stuck down my pants is very uncomfortable, and it is usually too hot to wear a jacket in Nv. Winter carry is ok, but summer carry is rediculous. I'm assuming you must have a good reason, I am just curious.

If i keep a "Crocodile Dundee" Knife or put you in a rear naked choke....and I am one move ahead of you.....
Or if you poison my corn flakes or run me over with your car or....

Guns aren't kryptonite. As far as I know, my sparkling personality and glaring lack of material wealth keep me pretty safe from most premeditated assassination plots. The "Beware of Dogs" sticker next to the NRA decal on my front door do more to prevent my house being robbed than the dogs and guns ever will. It's about minimizing risks. Living in fear is a lot different from facing the world's many risk factors on your own terms.

Like I said - I carry because I can. I think it makes the world around me safer.

A 2" .357 carried SOB is no burden. An untucked shirt is plenty of cover.

Based on your answer, your ability to adapt to your surroundings keeps you safe.....if asteroids blanket this earth...what value does money have???? I am taking whatever the fuck I deem necessary to survive.....so FUCK MONEY

Thats the governments way of keeping their thumb on you.......bank accounts, credit cards, 401k's, IRA's, etc,etc,etc....all are traceable....

If asteroids blanket the Earth, are they going to trace me to the rubble I'm hiding under? Am I going to give a crap? Will there be any currency worth more than lead?

I haven't grown or possessed in over 2 years, and I don't do anything criminal - having grandkids puts your legal status into a different perspective.

I have, however, been woken out of bed to be robbed and assaulted in my nice, suburban home. I've also had someone try pulling me out of my car. Unfortunately, both were long before I had guns (or for that matter, lived where anyone other than criminals could have one). What you're doing and where you are has nothing to do with your personal safety vis a vis crime. Ask the folks who got shot in church last month what illegal activity they were involved in. Then ask how glad they were that there was a CCW holding church member working security at the door to end things ASAP.

SOB is much more comfortable for me than have a gun butt up in my ribs when I bend forward. I drive cross country and it doesn't give me any trouble. Your back makes a nice, comfy little hollow spot back there. If I am carrying a .45, I move it in front of my hip because drawing the longer barrel from the back requires the arm to really contort.

Are you saying I said that? Not only did I NOT say that, I directly stated that it is not protected by the constitution. If your just repeating what I said....thanks for the fresh input.
I responded to the following statement: "I have a drivers license. that alone means the standards are set FAR too low." I took that to mean standards to own a firearm are substandard. To which I replied that there is no Constitutional right to drive a car, as opposed of the fact that there IS a Constitutional right guaranteeing the right to keep and bear arms. If I misinterpreted your statement, please ignore my statement.

Hehe, ok. Well, I guess what I was saying is that you have this thing called the second amendment and it gets violated by liberals without even blinking. Yet, I am seriously such a bad driver that I really shouldn't be allowed to drive- and it's legal. Yet, someone who knows how to handle a firearm correctly and is responsible and law abiding has no business with an assault rifle. Why is that? Maby we are spending too much time defending an ill-equipped mother's right to kill her fetus....and not enough time defending the rights of people who are actually not the true murderers?

I think you have the right name, just spelled wrong, should be S-I-C-K. wishing someone to be shot, you must be pre-pubescent.,
