Guidance Needed For My Hydroponic System

Hey

Im interested in starting to grow some weed but had a few questions that i was hoping to get answered before i start buying my equipment.

I have a small closet space to work with..And im hoping to take the plant from veg to flowering stage in the same closet space. I figured that once ive got everything figured out i can then start worrying about mother plants and clones etc.

I have decided on a 250W grow light with a MH bulb for Veg and a seperate HPS bulb for flow. stage.

Ive decided to go dwn the hyrdoponic route and was looking at this flood and drain system.
http://www.aquaculture-hydroponics.co.uk/product.aspx?tabID=4&productID=1305&categoryID=347&subCategoryID=347
Do you leave the plant in a normal pot with pebbles in and then leave that pot on the top plastic table where the water will flood it 3 times per day??

Will that system be okay to use from veg to flowering stage?
For veg stage what would i use instead of the pebbles to start the growth? and then at what point do i move the plant to the pebbled pot?

Any help appreciated

Keep it simple.. Small space, first time, 1 or 2 plants, (the most with 250wt.).
Use wick system.... Run veg. @ 18hrs. Then change bulb & go to 12 or less.

Read... Study... Experiment... Learn the rest.......... That's what I'm doing. Show that and these people will be there to help.

good growin' to ya.... M--

yeah im definately going to get me a 250W...400W seems way to powerful after reading a few articles...

I just read up on the wick system, and out of all the hydroponic system that one was suggested as being the hardest to maintain because of the levels always changing as there is a lot more absorbtion...

from what i have read the flood and drain system seems to be the easiest method...

Ive found someone willing to give me a clone so i wont have to worry about growing a male seed. But will the system i posted above be big enough to veg and flower the plant with just that system and a MH and a HPS bulb.....

Im not looking for a huge plant, just some good quality bud.....

another question i have is do all lighting systems that come with a HPS bulb also accept a MH bulb? Sorry if its a stupid question but id rather be sure..

For example http://www.aquaculture-hydroponics.co.uk/product.aspx?tabID=3&productID=1845&categoryID=429&subCategoryID=429 That system comes with 1 hps bulb but doesnt state that you can replace that bulb with a MH when it comes to flow. stage. Is that because all of these lighting system accept either bulb?

Once again sorry if its a dumb question, but i dont want to buy the light and then find out i got to buy another one because it doesnt take both bulbs....

Couple of things... 1 400w mh/hps will cover approx. 16 sq.ft.
Wick system less maint., can go fishing. You learn how much she takes. No worry about pumps.
You can grow 1-2 big plants.... or 8-10 small & have a crop every 4 weeks.

No experience with clones. Do know you can buy them off internet. But you can isolate males early yourself. And...
no... you have to buy a light that is made for both mh & hps. And if memory is correct one of the 2 bulbs is special. I've been
looking at the site below.

lights..... http://www.htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=47929
ph meter..... http://harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94759

YOU WILL NEED..... ph meter and TDS tester. !!!!! A MUST...

Sorry..... just saw one of your 1st questions.
Now that I've seen the system you have, I can only say that you would need to see what they say 'bout changin' pots. Sounds like to much trouble to me.
I plan on either just changing bulb temps... or having 2 rooms.

yo bro hold up, if your new to growing i would try something more simple and its a nice hydroponic system that i got this past Christmas. heres the link to the system i got http://www.stealthhydroponics.com/product.php?xProd=2&xSec=2 , it comes with 2 CFL's one 105w daylite and one 60w flowering, they work nice for vegging trust me ill post some pics of my three plants just vegging with those. Anyhow its $180 for the tub, water pump, air stone, air pump, pro drainage kit, thermometer, hydroton, pH up and down, pH strips, 2 extension cords, 3 months worth of grow, bloom, and micro nutrients (actually lasts longer than that cuz i still have more than half my packets and i started growing on jan. 5th), 6 net pots, and 6 rockwool cubes, its a great deal oh and it comes with a light timer

You really have 2 options here.
1. You can buy a "switchable" ballast, one that will run a standard HPS or Standard MH bulb. The lowest wattage I have been able to find is 400w though.
2. You can get either a standard HPS or MH ballast, then get a conversion bulb. I have a 250w HPS Ballast that runs a 250MH conversion bulb for veg. The conversion bulbs are more expensive, but still cheaper than buying another ballast.

That system will be fine for the whole grow. If your going with a clone, it should already be in rockwool cubes, or something else as a subsitute for rockwool. Just stick the cube into you pot with your pebbles(Hydroton) and place your pots in the top container. Water is pumped from the bottom to the top container 3 times a day and all will be well.:bigjoint:
