(guessing) some kind of borer

first outdoor grow that i've come across this and was looking for some help.

had a stem that was showing what looked like a deficiency while the rest of the plant looked relatively ok. bud development on this stem seems ok (no rot, nothing that looked 'off', but the most fan leaves on this branch were yellowing. took a closer look and found pic related. it doesn't look good obviously. cut it about 4" below the hole, inspected the stem (splitting it apart and looking for pests) along with all the buds. nothing seemed out of order. i inspected the rest of the plant and it looks like possibly, this is beginning to occur on a few other stems, though it's hard to tell if it's some sort of scabbing from supercropping since there aren't really holes, just discoloring.

anyone know exactly what this is?

my other questions are
1 - should i relax and just keep an eye on the other stems, removing if i see the same problem and try to salvage what i can.
2 - is it a definite problem and should it be removed from the same area as the sister (which looks 100% ok, different strain).

Yes stem borers keep your eye out for more wilting stems an remove them better yet get some bt or spinosad an spray the plants down it wont kill the ones in the stem but will kill the eggs or babys that are still hatching. I would look over the plants REAL good an cut out any stems with bore holes asap I have seen whole plants die from stem rot from them fuckers.

thanks thumper. is this ok to use while a plant is in flower though?
