Growing With Cfl's

Just wanted to be the first to post hi

I am sooooooo glad that we got our own forum. I will have to move my thread over here.

yea i like them because they are stealthy/ very little heat, but then again it does take longer

Exactly, I may not get what i would with a HID light, but i am not claiming to smoke a quarter bag everyday so i dont need alot. Hell i am lucky to smoke a ounce a month. And i am not trying to grow to sale it. So what ever i get off of them will be more than enough. I would be happy to get 1.5oz a month off of 2 or 3 plants. But i do have to admit that i dream of having a setup like on the show on SHOWTIME called Weeds.

Whens it come on, is it on cable or satellite?

It is on the movie channel called SHOWTIME, it is like HBO. I will get my monthly channel guide and check what time and day it comes on. You should watch it, it is about a woman that grows and sales it and runs into alot of problems. It is funny. They have a grow setup in like a huge warhouse. It is unreal. I will get the info posted on here soon.

i don't know I think it depends on how many cfl's you use, I have over twenty and I grow a few monsters every few months, and I always have spare bud laying around

Yes the show Weeds is a bit comical. Im not sure when the new season starts though. Oh and thanks to the moderators for the new forum................

even though everyone says cfl's dont produce a lot of heat, i only have 5 on and i have to fight 90 degree temps with two computer fans for exhaust, one for intake, and one fan blowing at the lights

Is your intake bigger than the exhaust? If not, make the intake bigger and it will improve airflow.

nah it isnt, i guess ill pick up another fan for intake and see

It doesnt have to be alot bigger. Just about 1.25 times bigger. I use like a 3inch in the exhaust and like a 3.5inch in the intake.

cfl's are for the ninja's of marijuana growing.

If you are fighting the heat of 5 cfl's you would most likely start a fire with any hid in that same area... =]

Also i find that you get better results if you blow heat away from the lights and toward your exhaust... Blowing air AT the heat source will just circulate more heat especially in an enclosed area not so much in larger space... In a larger space there is more room for that heat to dissipate...

Thanks for the info. I will move the one so it will blow the heat up towards the exhaust. I really dont have much heat but if it works than all the better.

Yeah weeds is a pretty cool show but I only got to watch it a couple times. I originally got HBO for the Sopranos

so i switched my door thing around so that there are now two intake fans and one exhaust, and moved the fan inside, and temps have been 80-90 (but generally 85ish) with the lights on. But before the average temp was probably 90 and would reach 95 easily. so thanks for the info!

has anyone seen the 3rd season of weeds? i hate the way the 2nd season ends. and blockbuster only has the first and second season. but in the comentary for the second season the creator of weeds says the 3rd season come out in july. this show is like 2 years old tho so it should be out already. idk why blockbuster doesnt have it. wtf. that show is the shit. even if the bud they show are not real. the plants look real atleast. and she doesnt have huge warehouse set up. its just a small house with about 60 plants.

Id try to bring the temp down to atleast 70-75
