Growing pretty slow , need some help.

I have just lowered my res by an inch . I have two airstone in a bucket with about 12L or so of water in it , the water level is 13 cm from the top of the bucket and about 10cm from the bottom of the netcup. I know you are supposed to have the netcup close to the water but my medium is actually soil and never seems to dry out from the bubbles always keeping it moist. Growth is slow also , so could it be that because the soil is so wet the roots don't seem in much of a hurry to find water ? They are growing but not at a rate that makes you go 'wow' the next time you have a peek. should I turn off the air stones for a few days and just let the roots find the water themself like a kratky method?

Did you put soil in your netpot? You should use hydroton (clay pellets). To me, it looks like the roots will make the soil wet as the plant drinks, so it wont go dry anyways. I found this thread, check it out.
