"growing plants taller than 12" before flowering is incorrect". Is this true???

I read this on one of the other threads. I have 2 plants that are about 18". Should I be flowering already?

Like DoobsDay said that is how most people determine when to flower by the amount of space they have in their grow area. So If the height in your flower area is 6 feet (after allowing for lights) you might consider flowering at 2ft. That would allow for the plant to triple in size in the flower area.

That is just an example and my own personal opinion.

Doobs, right space and light are your factors. The one in front of my fridge on pic is 5 foot mother I let bud.

The height is rougly 3'. Width and depth isn't an issue. I know I could run out of room when I flower, so I fully expect to tie them down. I have 2 that are about 18", 2 about 12" and 1 about 8". They all have at least 5 nodes and nice thick stems. What do you think?

This is an edit: NO 5' plants for me!!!! LMAO!

if you dont have a seperate veg room id suggest flowering all of them now. if you do you could wait till the 8" got to 12. what strains are these?

Here's my latest pic with the plants in the growbox and as of yet, I don't have a separate flowering room.

this is a question of room as well as of light. room because some strains can triple in height in flower and light since lumen's decrease with distances rapidly.

Doob, I started that all on an impulse one day. We usually only smoke high-end shit (no pun intended) but my guy has been out of it the last month (big busts down here the last few months). The next best thing he had was "regs" with seed. We were very skeptical at first but it turned out to be some great shit. Not as good as our crip, but very indica heavy. Major couch-lock, narcotic high. On a whim, I took about 20 seeds and stuck them in some topsoil we had and planned to just let them fend for themselves. Then I found this site and started educating myself. About 8 sprouted and I decided to get serious with it. I transplanted them to better soil mixed with perlite. I bought a bunch of CFLs, mylar, fan, nutes, fert, molasses, etc. I've been really following the recommendations carefully. We lost 3 along the way for various reasons and now we have 5 generally healthy plants. 4 of the 5 have a very pungent skunky stink. The 5th has very little smell and it appears to be more sativa in appearance with the thin finger-like leaves.

After seeing some of what others on here have harvested using CFLs, I will probably CFL all the way. I've bidded on 3 different HPS systems on Ebay but didn't win. All I want really is for 2 of these to be female. Even if we were able to harvest 1 ounce (cured) from each plant, that would be satisfaction enough for me. If I do get a HPS, I will probably get a 150w system. My grow is solely for me and my wife's use. I have no intention or desire to sell or expand anymore. Hard enough with these 5 as it is.

Your probably not gonna get an oz per plant with the cfls in that small of an area without any co2 or any booster.Id say if all 5 are female your looking 3 oz total cured if that assuming they are female and you do well with feed and environment. The plants will at least double if not triple in height. The sative may go even more on you. They will at least double in width too.Get a 250 hps from ebay.I just grabbed a couple more 400watt setups with reflectors ballast cords and new bulbs for unde $45 each including shipping. There are like 8 1000 watt hps setups on there right now for buy now of $27 plus shipping

FF, I have been on Ebay almost everyday for the last 2 weeks and haven't seen anything close to those deals you mention. If you can provide a link, I'd really appreciate that. I bid on a 100w HPS with ballast yesterday. It went for $55 plus $15 S/H. I will probably just go HTG and buy one of their 400W, which I can get for a buck fifty, if I do go HPS.

Yeah Sat, I figured that. I had some problems hiding my grow which I described in another thread. If I do use an HPS, it wouldn't be on this grow and not anytime soon. My stepdaughter is supposed to leave for college this summer and her room would be ideal.

i would go at least 250 on a HPS, just to get the most out of your space. they have air cooled hoods that are cheaper than they sound. it's basicly a fitting on the light hood, flex tubing and an exhaust fan.

hey hearme, wasn't that you been busted by that little punk? so if you fuss now about the grow right now, isn't that a waste of time since this should be gone for good for days??

so for now, take those plants, cut them down to a foot or two and move them to the woods. the they will start over then and you can still get them in fall in addition to that new grow you can start then;)

yeah really, a air cooled on can light the smallest grow well, check them at high tech High Tech Garden Supply, they have fairly cheap going models or at mogie's home made threads, she converted some security HPS system and gave some instructions on how to make a air cooled one;) i'm everything else but a fan of those security lights but if they are re-wired well and set up in a air cooled reflector they should be safe to use too.

Green, yeah that was me. I decided to see the grow through. Fuck the little bastards. I have been wavering on the HPS purchase. That would be a lot harder to hide. I have been giving the girls the occasional CO2 dose, via the yeast sugar method. I give them Superthrive once a week. They are doing really well with the lights I have. I forget who now but another poster showed pics of the colas he grew using even less light than I am and they were amazing! If I harvest anything like that, I'd be happy. I'm not greedy. This is more of a hobby right now. Next grow, and yes there WILL be a next grow, I will look at the HPS option. I need more space for that.
