What kind of medium are u using or what kind of dirt do u think would work best now having done this, obviously something very fine,, I was thinking a soiless mix or if sand or soiless do u need any nutes??? I know how hars they are to get started..
i kept mine soaking wet. i know what you mean though. it's like they root on the surface. i had over 200 sprouted and they all dried up in a few hours in the sun. i replanted the few i had left and kept the soil VERY moist. as they grew i gently buried the roots. they are very delicate. out of 300 seeds i have 6 plants that made it. next year i should have better results.

keep them very moist.

i think i used miracle grow soil. the secret is to keep it MOIST for the first few weeks. the seedlings are very delicate. they will dry out and die within hours if you don't keep an eye on them. disturb them as little as possible.

FDD - you said that you replanted yours. Did you have a good success rate with that? Just curious. I was told that they really dislike transplanting, so in the past I've just scattered tons of seeds in flower beds and let them grow there. Out of hundreds of seeds I might get a dozen plants.

Wow I knew a guy who was growing poppy in his back yard abut a year ago, wish I coulda asked him a few questions about it. How long does it take for a full life cycle of poppy to be completed? Is the effect the same as with heroin or is it a different effect? Guy I kne said it would take a very large amount of poppy to get the effect of one cap of heroin, but i didnt know him too well so i can really say if hes credible or not. Nice thread your poppies look hella nice fdd
