Growing is becoming a new "addiction"!

Yes, I love to smoke high quality marijuana -and have for over 40 years…..well the marijuana part, anyway! ;) The "quality" aspect has been hit/miss. I mean, if we wanted to smoke weed back in the old days, then we had to wait until "the shipment" came through town and then had to pretty much accept whatever it was. Sometimes it was good. Sometimes it was the worst you could ever even imagine!

Without the allowance of medical marijuana patients to grow their own plants, it was just too risky to try and really get into growing marijuana, before. And you had to be a special kind of person to grow it when it meant that getting caught could put you in prison for a long, long time! But, nowadays, since growing it within the state law is cool, and the technological advancements in lighting and other aspects of gardening tools that can be utilized to grow it more successfully, a lot more hobbyists are getting into the actual satisfaction of growing their own plants -not for the sake of becoming an illegal drug dealer (under the law) and making a lot of money like Tony Montana (lol!)….But, rather, for just the enjoyment of seeing the plants grow….Am I right? Come on! :)

I spend a lot of time with my new hobby. I'm trying to find that "elite" strain. I'm trying little tweaks here and there in my tent, with the nutrients or the lighting or the temperature or the air movement. I read a lot on RIU. I read a lot of articles related to growing. I have a lot of advice to pick and choose from now. There are so many "right" ways to grow it…waaaay more options than there used to be….RDWC, aeroponics, supersoil -just to name a few!

I continue to learn from experience and it now seems that the satisfaction of growing the plants is right up there with smoking/vaping the best! Now that I've been growing my own for awhile, the thought of going to the dispensaries or to the recreational stores is not as appealing. I mean, I still check it out to see what's out there…but now its not so much about just getting high.

Any others out there addicted to growing?

:)

Absolutely !
I got the green light to give this a try a little over a year ago when my wife was diagnosed with a stomach disorder that there is no current cure for and basically her life consists of dry heaves and nausea.
I converted an old fridge into a grow box and the fun I have had BUILDING this thing and then growing our own meds.... GREAT !
I have almost got this thing perfected... RDWC, 2 plants this run, GoldLeaFuck on the left and AK-47 on the right.
They have about 3 more weeks to go till harvest.
I tried a SCROG screen grow the first run with 4 plants... had some noob problems but still yielded over 7 ounces of meds.
Second run, I tried Mainlining.
Had some serious heat issues and lost 1 of 3 plants to root rot, but still pulled around 6 ounces.
Stuck with the mainlining for this run of 2.
I like this type of plant training !

I just dropped 2 more seeds in some water yesterday, another GoldLeaf*** and a Jack Herer.
This next run, I intend to use the Gas Lantern Routine for my lighting schedule.
It is so great to have a world of knowledge right at your fingertips !!!
To be able to learn so much from others successes and their failures.
Such a great hobby this growing thing has become !
I have had many other hobbies that you pour money into and receive the fun and satisfaction you were looking for, but this one also rewards us with pretty medicinal flowers !!!

ENJOY !

Lets just say, after successfully growing cannabis and enjoyed every second of it.. I'm now growing oregano, parsley, lavender and working on basil, chives etc next, and already thinking of converting a portion of my back yard into a garden next spring for potatoes, tomatoes etc.

sucks eh

The power of Cannabis....

It should be legalized everywhere just based on the oxygen that growers are putting back into the atmosphere by growing it -while big corporations manufacture all kinds of junk that takes the breathable air away. And like has been said here many times in this thread….in addition to growing cannabis, people also learn to grow their own food -food that usually tastes multiple times better than what you can find at the grocery store! And it's a peaceful thing to do for some of us who take life too seriously sometimes and need a way to meditate. Growing cannabis is one of the most therapeutic things I have ever done…Growing may be as "medicinal" as the weed, itself!
