Greetings fellow growers. i'm moving to my new house in a couple of weeks and will be growing in my bedroom closet. It will be in a 4x4x6.5 tent. The reason I want a tent is because I'm renting and I want to respect my landlord's property, minus the fact I'm growing marijuana. I will keep it pretty small, with only 4 or 5 plants. After harvest, I'll weigh my plants and determine how long it took to grow and how frequently I should grow. I've already got a pretty good idea on what I think I should do. Please take the time to read it, and please, give comments.
1. Germinate seeds-I have an aquarium heater that I can place in a large container. I can dial it in to 76 degrees exactly. These will go in the spare closet to keep dark and will be checked every 12 hours.
2. After they're germinated, I have a "window seed starter" it looks like this, except it's plastic and there's more slots for seed. But since i only plan on using 4 or 5 at a time, it's not a big deal. http://i.parkseed.com/images/xxl/96627.jpg
3. I have some big CFL bulbs and 2 hand-held lights that you use in the garage. I plan on rigging up a stand to support the lights. This isn't exactly what they are, but very similar, and like $5 at walmart. http://img0.etsystatic.com/000/0/6496870/il_fullxfull.334765796.jpg. I will place it over the sink so I can water and drain.
4. After about 10 days, I will remove the seedlings from the window starter and place in 3 inch jiffy pots. I will still be using the CFL bulbs for a few more weeks and will add some more lights if necessary. I know people have problems with jiffy pots, but after a couple of weeks, I will use a pair of scissors and very carefully cut the pot away and place in a 1 gallon container. After a month, it will go to a 5 gallon pot. I will veg until plants are about 2 feet high. I know they can double or triple in height while flowering, so this should give me room.
It's my first time growing and I want to make sure I do it all correctly. Nothing would be more upsetting than wasting my quality seeds. Also, at what point can I put my plants under the grow light? I would like to put them in the tent the day I put them in soil if possible.
