Growing in Eastern Ontario

is it completly necisary to veg for a couple weeks inside first?? what if i just germ inside and then plant it right away outside?

i dont know anything about your area (weather/pest etc...) or your indoor limitations so, i'll just tell you how i gettem goin to give you an idea. keep in mind, ive only grown outside a few times.

so here it is. i sprout the beans in a tupperware with a wet paper towel in it, this goes on top of my tv to keep it warm. i only put about ten in each tup, with more it just gets funky in there and, i get alot more duds. pop it open a few times a day to get some air in there. once they crack and the tail is starting to poke out i put them into ice cube trays filled with seed starting mix (mg,scotts, promix ..whatever). these go onto my window sill on the south side of my house for the day and, then into a plain old white box with a desk lamp chillin in it for an hour or so, if it's shitty out they just hang in the box for the day(depends on the time of year). i mist wet the soil and plants frequently until the roots have taken over the soil in the trays (keep the soil consistently moist, it is vital)!. it usually takes around a week, no nutes ... maybe a misting of a weak N/grow solution if they need it.

now heres the fun part! i peviously build a few (very small) mini geenhouses in the woods. these are made of sticks/scrap wood/tree limbs, twine, duct tape, plasic sheeting, and widow screen on one side for ventillation. sounds like a junk show i know but, i buildem extra sturdy partially buried in the ground and, they stay put. i put the ice cube trays full of seedlings in the bottom of an empty 12 pack and, transport them to the greenhouse's in a backpack on a mountain bike(this is clutch, no traffic paranoia, scetchy parking spots, all that mess... im a guy on a bike.) oh yeah, i also peviously bring in one 2.5 gal spring water, keg cups with drainage holes cut in them, and of course a good organic soil mix. i transplant the seedlings into the cups filled with the new mix and water the piss out of all of em. then i clean all my shit up, put the ladies in there new home and bounce, leaving nothing behind except for the house full of girls(i use fem seeds mostly).

i personally do, three greenhouses in seperate spots (proverbial eggs sort of thing). ideally i water 1 everyday, unless they want me to hit em all everyday? after 2-3 weeks when there nice and hardy (approx 12") i start moving them to there new mulched, camo painted chicken wire homes. just a few in my bag each time, spread out all over the place by me pedaling a bike.

the main reason for the greenhouse is for heavy spring rains, without it those cups would get fucked up in a heavy downpour. of course it also keeps out animals, most insects(keep an eye on pests!), heavy winds, over-exposure to intense sun light, less evaporation of soil moisture, and keeps them a little warmer. i find all of this to make a tremendous difference in overall growth. although not "completely necessary" it's pretty crucial to nurse them through there infintile stages, just like anything else.

with a good organic mix in the cups you most likely wont have to feed them anything unless they look sick, just water em and let em grow. infact all i really give the plants is water.... lots of it! throughout the season all i really do is fill and dump the same water container over and over almost everyday! i top dress maturing plants ocasionally with strategic poop(u like that one ha) or some fresh compost. never anything with a "MEAL" suffix because "meal" means the same thing to animals as it does to us. they will dig your plants up cause they think theres something edible in the soil. never any "FISH" type stuff either, animals go apeshit for that stuff! i stick to various poops and composts and, piss all around the plants. the theory behind it is what animal is going to want to eat, pissy, shitty, brown dead decaying plant matter slop? you can use slow release chemical fertilizer but, theres just something not right about spreading overpriced colorful poison pellets into my grow(especially outside)? aside from buying genetics, i can do a 30+ plant, multiple pound season by emptying my change jar , less than $100. you can find compost for free if you look hard, poop is reletively cheap if not found for free? around here you can even find decent native soil and dig the shit up and move it! add in some lime, maybe some greensand for micro/macro nutes, poop, compost, a nice shiney marketable bag of bright white perlite for aeration and drainage.... wrong... sand from a beach or gravel from an unpaved road or let the worms do it!. sorry dude im starting to rant now, and i understand that these things may not be as easily obtainable for all but, the point is keep it simple! if you start hand feeding your plants, gallons upoun gallons of 15-20 different bottles of high priced water soluable nutes every other watering and, your tripping over solar powered lights that youve placed in the middle of the wilderness, just stop take a step back maybe lay of the herb for a day or two and ask your self " why the fuck am i doing all of this"

sorry to anyone who is offended by my slight bashing of slow release/soluable chem ferts and solar power lights for outdoors. i understand how they are applicable in certain cicumstances, but it seems to be turning into the norm to waste money on 8-22 different bottles of nutes or multiple different tubs of dry ferts, and supplemental light... OUTDOORS? the advantage of growing outdoors is mother nature. free water, free light, free earth. everything is so dam confusing now i would hate to start learning now, companies sell sugar water and h2o2 (hydrogen rperoxide) in fancy bottles with a catchy name for like 20 bucks a pop and you probably have the stuff lyin around your house, and on top of the you dont even fucking need it to grow a damn plant anyway. im just venting a little, meaning to steer the unfortunate upcomers down a more sensable road. all you really need is a strain suitable for your area, decent earth/soil, a good spot, some organic matter and plain water, tap, stream, etc... with a little luck you will have the best smoke of your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s as precautionary measure i reguarly dust plants with organic insecticide powder, i put it in a baby powder bottle for stealth and its also functions as a good applicator!

well i think that should be enough for you to get the show goin eh!

feel free to pm if you want

keep it simple, safe, dont show or tell = days of hauling bagfuls of fresh bud!

Merry Christmas!

peace!
