Hello RIU,
This 09 season i am planning on doing a grow outdoors in buckets.

And what are some good recommended soil mixes i could buy from a lowes, etc. (no hydropontic stores around me) I live in Tn.

Plants in buckets need alot of attention to the watering schedule.

Is the mobility of them really necessary ?

mobility is always a plus u never know what may happen... but main reason i am trying these buckets is cause i am iffy about the soil around here.
watering is not to big of a deal to me. it wont be to far and there is a little pond not far at all(im not sure how good water is)
but anyways if it is better, i might possibly try to plant in ground but i dont know much about inground planting =\

I use 10 gallon rubbermaid rough totes. Drill some drain holes about 2" up the side from the bottom. I use Fox Farm's Ocean Forest soil and have had good results. I have not had any experience with the strain Arzan's haze #2.
Good luck.

use some home cheapo 5 gal pails. I bury some hemp twine and leave about 4' sticking up inside the hole big enough for the bucket. Then run the twine inside the bucket for a wick.. i never have to go to water my plants durring dry periods. Even when i go check when its been a while since we got any rain.. they look perfect.

forgot to add, i use a whole roll of the twine. just double it over til u got 8 ends, cut the bunch in your hands and bury the other end in a loose bunch.

thanks ramblerpimp...
i dont have the money to order FF or i would...
im looking for a good soil mix with stuff that can be purchased at lowes, etc.
and im still not sure with size bucket would be reliable for this strain, i know either a 5-10 gal bucket. Or if i just decide to just do a in ground planting, if i were to do so what would i need and how should i prep my plot if i do so. What are some pros/cons to growing in ground and growing in buckets?
thanks guys, keep the info coming:leaf:

Then buckets for sure. Mobility is the best insurance for utility workers or any emergency that may arise. Just make sure they are large enough to veg all season then sustain flowering to the end. Don't wanna choke them. Also be sure to use potting soil even though they are outside grows......

You can buy Fox Farms' Ocean Forest online. Mix with perlite 3:1. You can get perlite everywhere. And I use 10 gallon dark blue rubbermaid heavy duty "roughneck" containers. Just drill a bunch of drainholes 2" or so up the sides. Fully flowered I can still move them fairly easily - assuming I didn't just water!!

I use the same tubs indoors in winter in my cabinet. :-)

By the way, I'm in CA and am medical. I choose to grow in containers for pest and environmental control and, of course, stealth....

peace
