Growing In a Fish Tank

I think the reason tin foil works for me is because I have a large grow area. I believe the tin foil will only create hot spots is if it is creased and wrinkled in certain places. If it is carefully put up I think tin foil would make a very good reflector of light.

I'm making a light hood today out of cardboard and tin foil. As we are lifting the lights again, and the grow area is large in relation to the amount of plants we have, we've thought it best to make a light hood. This will enable us too to spread the plants further apart, give them a bit of breathing space.

If you're using a cupboard you'd be better off using white paint. If you're going to use foil, make sure it is flat. You could iron it between two sheets of paper.

This really isn't a grow journal im going to move it to indoor growing and you can start another fishtank journal when you are ready.

hey widow maker i dont want you to punch an old lady about this, but my little plants are in a fistank. I transplanted them from big cups to this about a week and a half ago and one has continued growing, the other one has a bad root i think and formed four leaves and stopped. I have a big circular grow pot that i can re-transplant to,. I only grew once before but it was in the same fish tank. It grew to be pretty big, maybe one foot no buds and about 4 hairs, but then it just fell over becuase i think it didnt have enough light. I noticed you said that the soild needs to drain. So A) cant i just poke holes in the fish tank, and B) whenever i put water in it it seems like the soil just eats it up and it doesnt even make it to the bottom so whats the point of having holes at the bottom. Do you condone putting ALOT of water in so that the water DOES reach to the bottom? cheers
and by the way widow i liekd your grow guide.

alright first off i already got seedlings and planted them in my 80 Gal fish tank filled half way with soil. well its ben extly 2 days after i put the seedlings in the soil. I have 2-65 wat swirly flourcesent bulbs ontop of a screen for fishtanks like for lizards and shit. I water them at 7 am and 4 pm every day.
Today I added a heatlamp ontop of my closet were i keep the tank btw and it seems like that helped the plants sprout , grow even faster.
Make sure that the lights u have are high in the blue end of the spectrum, along with the mild yellow end, this way u can go through the vegitative state, then bud them in the same fish tank!

get a timer for the lights, do 21 hours of light, then 3 hours of darkness. When they look nice and big, switch to 12 hours of light, and 12 hours of complete {must be total darkness,no exceptions}darkness, this will cause the buds to form.

the more light circulation, the better. maximizing the lights potency is always good,i have my 10 gallon wrapped in foil, and my little ones like it alot=)

its so amazingly good im gonna make u read my next sentence without saying it lol
get a plastic tank i have a cheap 20 galln tank perfect for a few plants about 8
drill holes in tyhe bottom
alsp hot spots arent very often honestly its sort of hard to make one if you take the time
i have 2 plants right now their both about 2 feet tall and then i hav e my drilled fishiweedtank
and i have 7 good 8 inch seedlings in it and im doing dam good
oh also cover the botton with dock tape so when u make ur holes it wont crack
also im not positive bout this one but u know u may wanna look at the metal tape they got its reflective as hell
well i am dont i hope widow maker grandma spree will end with this post

well many ppl need the drainage because thats how they learned to grow it by watering untill some comes out the bottom '
so i understand the problem but drainage is important if you dont wanna have too pour outm water if ur still a noob like many ppl that use a tank is
thats why its a problem and if it works for u cool but noob growers normally over water at first out of excitement

Veina,
Please read all of Widow Makers grow guide. It sounds like you can use a little guidance. And stay away from tin foil, it creates hot spots. Use flat white paint instead.
Please not this Old Wives´ Tale yet again. First, nobody has made TIN foil for decades - it is now totally supplanted by aluminium foil, which is cheap, readily available and is highly reflective - I have been using it for years as a reflector with tomatoes, cacti, grapes and of course, MJ. And it is also dead easy to bend into shape.
And you do NOT repeat NOT get any hotspots. EVER. Just doesn´t happen - and anyone who says it does have never used the stuff. Trouble with MJ forums is they are populated by naive kids who have no general experience of gardening, or of life, believe all the BS they read and just repeat it.

Back to aquaria - presumably you have no drain hole for your run off - soggy soil soon gets sour. And won´t your plants quickly grow to the top? How about ventilation?
In fact, does an aquarium have any advantage over a normal pot?

its doesnt no but it does make an amazing seedling starter and takes little space
i happen to be that naive kid but ive learned plenty
i hear alot about aluminum hot spots i hear they happen alot and then a hear other this and that
so i tested it out i used it i had no hotspot no which way i bent it
so i took it off and uysed mt white paint again
but yah hot spots must be gods way of pissing off a select few
lol
well im done love and peace and tasty weed
