Growing by the River

I live in a town with a river running through the middle. Does the soil near rivers usually make a good medium? I dont think its too sandy or rocky, so if I could find a very secluded spot, would you recommend it?

yes, the soil around rivers here are very rich due to the silt run off from rainfalls, which has alot of nutrients, be careful of flooding areas around your river

Thanks for the reassurance.
I think I found the perfect spot,
about 10 meters from a secluded
piece of driftwood that my friends
and I occasionally toke on.

Any other advice?

The spot I found, Im certain Im the only one that goes there.
Sunlight can reach it fine, and the only animals I have to be worried about are deer,
and I dont think they can or will go down there.
Good advice though.

Deer love our weed plants:mrgreen: A little coyote piss will deter them though,or putting fishing string around the perimeter it scares them cause they bump into it but cant see it,use like 20-40 pound test not to thick to see but not to small it breaks:blsmoke: as for your soil yes river soil is good i would add some perlite though for aeration, and maybe some garden soil for good texture:eyesmoke:

yes, I use fishing line on mine to detour deer away, with some pet hair also.

Awesome, those are really good ideas.
The spot is only accessible by hiking down a really steep slope with thick brush
and fallen logs everywhere.
I didn't think deer could get down there but I guess theyre pretty adventurous.
Thanks for the tips, Rep for you.

Its funny you say that i thought the same thing, steep hill=no flooding during rain and hopefully deers would not tempt it,but they do and they will, best thing is fishing string or coyote urine, pet hair can make it easier to find you, fishing string is bought alot and is harder to narrow down, always assume the possibility of getting found and covering your tracks so it does not come back to you:blsmoke: Better safe then sorry as they say:roll:bongsmilie
