i will mix 2 bags of roots with one bag of happy frog and add extra chunky perlite and a little extra coco fiber. crazy good results all the time.

familiar with subcool's super soil? i feel like he would refute pretty strongly the claim that happy frog is the best soil for growing. pretty sure he uses roots and then adds tons of shit to it.

soil only turns to a rock if you let it JN811. any soil will do it.

skimd the thread, here my opinion....MG is shit...yes, you can harvest with it... but it will not be to plants full potential...about FF...iv talk to a rep. via e-mail... the Ocean Forest is their quote "top quality soil",,the happy from is more suited for seedling/clones with ALOT less nutritional value...i personally like to mix the two when i have them, but i usually have more ocean forest on deck...i also add chunky perlite like steadman, only i do it in a 50/50 soil perlite, water daily...going to be trying Earth Juice Amazon Bloom next run, will let you know if its better than FoxFarm, but so far nothing els has been...

Hello everybody. As many of you already know, any miracle grow soil is bad for growing MJ. Some growers have reported issues such as stunted growth, Slowed or halted growth, and abnormalities such as curly and yellowing in the leaves. Many people that are new to grow may have made the mistake of using Miracle growth for their grows. I was one of these so called "NEWBIES". After i learned that this soil was the root of my problems, I quickly rinse the roots of my mistreated plants and re potted them in FFHF (HAPPY FROG). In the same day i noticed an explosion in growth. This thread is here to inform new growers that, if you want to grow marijuana the right way, you need to do it the correct way. STAY AWAY FROM MIRACLE GROW. I will leave you with a few words of advise..... Soil is the base of your grow, so buy the correct brands.

MANY, and I repeat, MANY growers successfully use MG soils. Your problem isn't MG, it's you...

There is currently a MG thread testing it agains FF and guess what? The overpriced FF OF is losing. MG plants are bigger, greener and overall healhtier looking. Anyone that trashes MG does so out of pure ignorance.

MG is outperforming FFOF right now in a test thread. You know nothing about what you are talking about. If you had problems with MG soil, the problem was you, not the soil. I have grown with it several times before going Hydro and I loved it. FFOF is overpriced and MG will outperform it.

You claim MG hinders the plants full potential.... lol, compared to what?

This post actually brought a smile to my face. I used mg ferts in my F&D system and it grew nice crystal and nice healthy plants. This is not the best choice of fertilizer but it will work.

i typically dont respont to thread rats like you, but...like i said MG will grow a plant, but just look at the ingredients and youll see what im talking about, this isnt really a opinion, its fact dood\.... sorry, but FoxFarm oceanForrst is a higher quality soil, simply because it has higher quality ingredients!!! lol, and any legit grower will tell you, quality soil goes a long way...but grow in MG all youd like bro, i dont care about your plants, lol....for anyone els, dont be so fucking cheap, get the good shit youll see the difference as soon as you open the bag...

Everyone has an opinion.

I've used MG in gardening for years. Ate many veggies from it, and raised a couple of kids off the outcome too. None of us died or grew deformities from eating veggies grown in MG. ( that I know of anyways)

I've grown MJ in MG more often than not. I like it. If you can avoid over watering, over nuting, know what (and when) to add nutes it works.

Using MG w/ all sorts of nutes is a learning process. Found it best to stay with just a couple that you know about.

Adding nuts (and such) just because it seems like it should be about time is a making for disaster IMO. I never go into a grow with a time line for anything. I read the plants and let it tell me what & when.

I've settled on MG Moisture control, grow straight from seed, and feel my plants look as good as anyone elses under the circumstances.

I do not just plop some dirt in a bucket and go though. That may be the difference. But, it does indeed work, and work quite well if you learn from the plant.

If you don't like it, fine. If you don't want to try my smoke because of MG, that's fine too. Because I'm not offering.

Frankly I've heard so many "can'ts" and "don'ts",, I ignore most because they're just soooooooo incorrect. It's all about a grow system. Some people piss on their plants. I guess it's something you'd jump at smoking? I'd rather have MG than someone's pissed on weed.

Oh,,, It is only a weed. Not rocket science trying to get one to grow. Why make something nature made so easy into something that takes a Einstien to nurture? Just grow it! It literally grows about anywhere given 1/2 a chance.

If you feel you must spend big dollars to feel good about your grow, then by all means have at it. However, 90% of what you're looking for is either in the seed or it's not. Genetics have a lot more say in the outcome than any $30 a pint of ferts.
Just give it the basics and let nature control from there. If you want to play, fine. Just don't go spreading wrong info about things you know so little about like MG.
You're really only showing your lack of knowledge about a subject to those that know better.

I know, I'm a new guy and just joined. True, but, I've been growing off & on since the mid 60's and have a pretty fair idea that MG is do-able. Not saying it's the absolute best,, but it is pretty damned good if you know what you're doing. ;-) :leaf:

you make lots of good points...but the truth is, there is a difference between growing a plant...and PUSHING a plant to the limit....if you dont get that then there is nothig i can say to you...but im glad you have "settled" for MG like you said in your 3000 word comment....for all new growers looking for a good start, for fuck sakes just buy the FF, lol

Oh, wow. My Bad, I'm sorry.
Didn't realize we were talking "pushing a plant to the limit" (whatever that means). I thought we were talking about growing quality buds for (semi) personal use.

Frankly, If I interpret your meaning of "to the limit" correctly,,, probably wouldn't be using any bagged soil to begin with,,,, or would you?

Besides, "for all new growers looking for a good start, for fuck sakes just buy the FF, lol" I doubt they'd be pushing to the limits from the get-go.

MG, bagseed, water, light. Pretty good basics to learn from anyday.
