bongsmilie So I have been researching the perfect setup for my limited space and since I am not really a handyman...I cant build shit by myself 4 shit.....I figured I would look into these grow tents. I saw one on ebay

( http://cgi.ebay.com/Hydroponics-Tent-48x48x78-Hydro-Cabinet-Grow-Budd-Box_W0QQitemZ220303056920QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item220303056920&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72:1205|66:3|65:12|39:1|240:1309|301:1|293:1|294:100) Tent for $125

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=400023050775 600W HPS for $230

Are these the best prices you can get out there? So far thats the best deals Ive found!!!!

and that is the perfect size for me, 4x4x6!!! I was thinking of putting a 600 HPS/MH set up in there but I have a few questions. Number one obviously I think heat is going to be a major issue running a 600HPS inside this tent it will get hot as hell:twisted:...but thats my assumption I dunno if anybody has done it and gotten good a good grow from it?!?!?! The other thing is I heard these tents made of PVC insides can actually kill your plant because of the gases....has anybody experienced anything like that?!?! Alright I guess thats it for now, I really need to make up my mind and go out and buy my set up already(this is my first grow), but I dunno which way to go here....any input would be helpful...thanks my fellow students and professors!!!:bigjoint:

make sure to find out what kind of grow tent you are getting...$125 sounds too goo to be true, you don't want the tent off-gassing....also if you are going to get a tent then heat will be a major issue, you must get a air cooled reflector or cool tube imho.

The homebox is a piece of shit too.

Bought one a couple of years ago and it is flimsy as shit.

Just build one with 2 x 4's, particle board and Mylar/ Panda Film.

I built a 5 x 5 x 6 for less than $100 and it is a hell of a lot more sturdy than a tent.
Yea thats what Ive been reading I could get a buddy of mine to help me build a box...but Im having a lil trouble with the set up....i have a corner of a closet 4x4x8 that i can box out....how do you suggest I go about making this an efficient grow box?!?! also if you got any pics of ur set up that would be great i can work with visuals better! thanx ma8s!!!

More power to you, I just think for over $200 after tax and shipping they are not worth it.

They also get extremely hot so expect to pay another $200- $300 for an exhaust type reflector, a can fan, and flexible ducting.

To each their own but you could save money if you are inclined to build your own.

Yea I agree with you building one could be more efficient and deff. cheaper!!! what would you suggest, a 4x4x6 box made out of plywood with a couple holes one at the bottom the other towards the top!??! What kinda lights do you have running on ur box? bongsmilie

I recently purchased one of the eBay tents. How much different are they? I was told they are all manufactured at the same plant but companies just brand them from there. Is there really a big difference between a homebox and one of the off brand tents? I was told the gassing issue has been fixed on all tents now for sometime?

I actually haven't received it yet. Should be getting it soon. as far as lights my original plan was to get a 400w mh/hps setup from htg supply which starts at 165.00. After alot of researching on this site I am going to be upgrading to a 6" cooltube reflector then vent it with a 6" extractor fan with 6" ducting venting outside the tent. I think I have it right in my mind but I would like to see a picture of someone elses tent already setup.

Any experienced tent growers that can let me know if I am on the right track and possibly post pictures of the lighting and ventilation would be MUCH appreciated.

My tent is like 3.3'x3.3'x6.5'. I only plan on having 4-6 plants in there at once. Would a 400 be too little for that space? I have heard that 600w is actually more efficient?

Thanks in advance for the info guys!!!

A 600w has more lumens per watt than a 400w. It is more efficient in this sense. The amount of lumens in a square foot is called footcandles. The more footcandles, the more vigorous plant growth will be. However, a 400w light will provide more than enough lumens for a 3.3x3.3x6.5 area. In fact, a 600w would make humidity and temperature extremely difficult to control in such a small area. I would go with the 400w.

I would buy the tent that you were looking at if your not much of a handyman like myself. I am actually going to buy that same tent in early may or sooner if I get the money. It's a great price and I mean honestly, if ebay tents were as shitty as some people describe them, then they couldn't keep selling. The particular user who is selling it has a 99% positive rating and has been in business for around a year. Grow tents are almost the only thing he/she sells, so a lot of the positive ratings have to be referring to his/her tents. Hope this helps in your decision.

Hydro huts are quality tents. Make sure they are then silver lining tents. They are black of course and have a blue accent striping. They are strong and have all metal frames that attach together like those fuggly tents people use as car covers.

I like the SunHut http://www.bestgrowlights.com/site/403863/product/SSI706810

I am physically disabled so the tent's are easier. I am only using half of the tent and I am quite happy with it. It can get warm inside but with ducted 600 watter's and negative pressure created by the 6 in exhaust fan with a charcol can the temp can be handled. The res I put outside of the tent to keep it cool (stays a pretty constant 68-70).
I hope you can gleen something from this rambling on post.
