Grow room venting question!!

Is your grow space in a garage or something?

Yes you can get a smaller bulb.
No its in a walk in closet of a empty spare bedroom in my house. I brought the AC duct from the room into the closet .. Intake holes make no sense here since I would only be bringing in 110 degree heat ( by the way excessive heat warning where i live thru Wed.) Well it would have cost me more money to go with a smaller MH bulb since I would need the bulb and ballast so I went with a T5 set up for my vegging. That way I have some more time to buy a 8'' fan ( 700 CFM ) that i will use strictly for the hood. The 400 CFM can fan I will use strictly for the filter. I am going to buy a portable AC unit saw a ad on craigs list for 100 bones...Flogrow recommendations brought my temps down to 86
but that was with the fan running non stop, I guess 1000W MH for vegging is a bit much? Any thoughts?

Takes anywhere from a day to a week for them to break the surface sometimes.

Be careful not to overwater your rockwool and dround your seeds, I killed alot of expensive seeds like that. Lesson learned.
Keep it moist but not dripping.

Try no to worry to death, overcaring for your plants will kill them too.
Make sure the temp doesnt go over 85.

Thanks man, yeah I did the shake method. I soaked them in 5.5 PH water then put them in my hand and shook the water out of them. Its hard not to worry lol especially since its my first time.

For sure my good man! I found a 9,000 BTU Portable AC unit on craigslist for 150 so i bought it. A question if I may? Since my seeds have popped and they are now seedlings how much light should I give them , I read lots of people doing 24 hr until "true vegetation" then change to 18/6 when leaves start to form.

So I finally finished my grow room. 3 of the girls broke the rapid rooter today . I have a portable 9,000 BTU AC keeping the room a cool 75 degrees.

I like to do 24 for the first 2-3 weeks. Then 18/6 untill they are ready to flower.
Man its really up to you. I have herd the 18/6 promotes more root growth. And I like shutting my room down for a couple of hours to let things cool down better.

Nice find on the air conditioner. Does it have one exaust hose or two?
If it only has one you will need to treat the air that comes out the exaust because it will smell.
Simgle hose ac's use the air from the room to cool the condenser and duel exaust use air in and out similar to a cooltube.

Yeah thats what I been reading.. i will do 18/6 but like you I will do 24 hours for the first couple of weeks.
The AC is single hose, the air was mass hot so I vented it outside its a 5 inch tube...What can I do to keep the exhaust from smelling once the girls start stinking??

Well, there are a couple things you can do. First and the cheepest way is you can remove the ac from inside the room and duct the cold air from the ac unit into your space. Some smell may still get thru, this is not the best way but it would work if you are tight on cash.
The other way is with a ozone generator($250), i know it sounds like overkill but I found its better than my carbon filter. You simplly place it inside your duct work and it cleans the molecules in the air. It doesnt mask smells it removes them.

I have to do something. I knew this problem would come along. I will start researching ozone generator's . I just put the ozone generator inside the 5 inch ducting exhaust thats attached to the portable AC???

I would hook up your carbon filter, then the light, then the fan, then the ozone with a long run of duct. Ozone needs time to do its thing if you vent to fast or a short distance it wont have time to work.
You may only need to run your ac in the summer time. This may not be a problem year round. Some people dont grow in the summer and just grow enough in the winter to last all year.

Yeah I for sure wont need a AC in the winter.. I think I will be fine with my cool hood and fan. I will be getting a stronger fan something like 700 CFM for the 1000W HPS the one I have now is 400 CFM and will just be used for the carbon filter. After I get a couple grows under my belt I will probably grow only in the winter. DirtFree thanks a bunch you and Flo really helped me out. With in the next couple of days i will be starting a thread with pics of my DWC set up.. Still gonna let those babies veg in the dome for a couple weeks.
