im planing on growing when i move into my new house.

i was previously growing outdoors and im trying something new in a controlled environment.

i wanted some opinions on my current setup on my grow room.

i do not have specifications on the room but i have a basic idea how i want to set up the vent system.

ill be using a inline fan from htgsupply 8" that pulls closely to 590 CFM give or take on the length and turns on the pipe.

and a 256 CFM squirell cage fan.

i want to grow a SoG with 4/4/4 cycles

i also want to know if i should put the carbon filter in the room or put it outside

is the filter good for sucking or blowing

Am i reading your diagram correctly? You are pushing air out of the carbon filter. Shouldn't you be sucking up the room air through the filter and exhausting it out?

so i should put the carbon filter inside sucking air through it and bringing it ouside?

you would want it to go something like this with ....Filter--Fan--lights--outside with the filter inside the room...this way you have the fan sucking the stinky air through the filter first, using that air to cool the hood

instead of the squirrel cage fan u may be able to save some money by getting a 6in duct fan 250cfm as a booster at the end of the system, or you can get the 8in with 500cfm

for performance reasons i prefer to have my set independant from the the lights, free flowing air from outside through the lights then outside, i use co2 so i dont want all that air sucked out, this allows me to cycle the carbon filter so i dont waste much co2

A lot will depend on the size of your grow room. I am using a 48"x20"x70" cabinet and I use 3 120mm pc fans hooked up to a pc fan controller (30$ for the fans 100$ for for the cabinet). One fan is for intake (bottom of the box) the second fan attaches to my 400w hps light and sucks air from outside and exhaust it outside, the third fan sucks inside air through a diy carbon filter and exhaust it outside. The fan controller is used to dial in temps. The fans are only rated at 70cfm (and run about 1/2 speed) but work for my size room and are very quite.

70cfm is great for your space, i first used a 70cfm bathroom vent for my 3x6 and it was fine, personally i like it when the negative pressure can close your door =)
