Grow room journal...4x4x4 Box with Hydro System (DWC/Bubbleponics)

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share my new grow room set up....attached some pics.

Basically I just got some 1 1/2" framing type wood, made a basic frame, threw some 1/2" plywood as the walls, put commercial 90lb wheels on the bottom for moving,..etc etc....the whole thing is 64 cubic feet(4x4x4)....

Anyway, I need some suggestions on exhaust fans.. I already got an [exhaust] inline duct fan and 2 intake fans. I was going to put the exhaust off the light ducting..so that it exhausts the heat. The two intakes I was going to put in the bottom right and bottom left (opposite walls). So, what should I use for the intake fans? 4" computer fans?

As far as the lighting and everything I am going to drop in a MH/HPS switchable ballast with a sub system 2 type hood so I can exhaust the heat produced from the light.

My friend is an electrician so he is going to put in a whole circut and box for this thing. He is going to install 4 - 120v outlets and a switch. Basically it will have 4 CFL's that stay close the to bottom for the seedlings (cost/efficiency), which go off a switch. The other light (MH/HPS) will be on a digital timer and have its own dedicated switch.

The pumps will also be on a timer (I'm going hydro- specifically DWC)....the air pump will be 24/7...the water pump will be on the 3mins on every hour (after the first 4 weeks that is).

Anyway, let me know what I should do about exhaust/intake/fileting the smell....I'm going to try to cut costs on those items...mainly the filter.

If anyone wants to know how to build this particular box, let me know and I'll walk you through it in a post.

BTW I forgot to mention, I'm going to update the progress on the grow box as I go. Ordered the lights/duct fan and stuff like that today...

OK, here is the update:
1.) Added the floor with foam bricks to reduce vibrations
2.) Used double sided tape to put the mylar on
3.) Started the DWC/Bubbleponics system



The system is going to hold 8 plants. I just need to pick up 4 water pumps and a couple random items like a small oscillating fan and stuff.

The light is a 400w switchable ballast hps/mh. I also am going to mount 4 t8 shop lights and 2 large CFL's for seedlings and extra light in flowering.

The roof is going to be self contained with plexiglass and stuff so I can intake/exhuast the heat from the lamp and push it right out into a carbon filter.

Any suggestions or anything?

F-Lights for the seedlings are all done...also put the power cord in. The whole box runs from one circuit

I'm going to have 1 exhaust and intake just for the light in the roof area (which will be self contained to reduce heat) and then I will have one intake in the bottom right and an exhaust into a carbon filter on the top left (on the opposite wall for good air flow)...I'll DIY all the fans except the one that hooks up to the carbon filter. Know any cheap places to get a nice in line exhaust fan with carbon filter hook up?

Oh and 1 oscillating fan in the front...I'll probably just get a 6-8" fan for that.
