I remember i had bought something like this off of amazon and you guys were telling me to return it and get something better, Cause they say they push out 600 watts, But they really don't. Hes gonna be growing in a 2x2x4 foot High Tent. Im Posting this for him for some advice

Ya that's a blurple Chinese light. He needs some white COBs or even better a pair of atreum boards on their heatsinks running each one around 125watts

Why didnt you jus tell him the advice someone already told you. Why make a thread about it. You already knew the answer. If someone already told you to return it. Why would it be different for him?

You are right. You absolutely want to avoid “blurples” lights if you can. For that tent, tell your buddy to get a QuantumBoard 260 W XL Kit. You likely won’t be able to buy it directly from HLG, but growerslight.com is one of their authorized retailers. You should be able to get one there.

260 kit might be a little overkill for a 2x2, but with only 4' height it might be good if you run it at half power. For this space DIY with 2 foot strips would be the ideal solution due to low height.

You’re absolutely right. I don’t know why i saw 2x4x4. He could go with a HLG 135 Kit.
To light a 2x2 with with one kit you need to run it on full power, which means about 18" hanging height. Another foot or so for pots. Leaves him with very little headroom, like 1.5-2 feet for the plant. Better using something that spreads the light more. Check out samsung 2 foot strips lm561c/lm301b. Or go for those 120/132 hlg boards or even the 144 boards from atreum. 4 of them ideally if you can fit it in. Or get a decent sized tent. Youll be wanting one pretty soon anyway

got a 400w hps and equivilent of 300w of amazon blurple, ashamed to say. Got em both in a 2 x 4 tent, cool tube hits bout 2/3 of space, blurple 1/3. Buds look to be about the same size, but the plants that are under the hps are lush, but slowly frost beginning. Plants under blurple have noticeable frost on bud sites, same age give or take a day, different strains. Explain please. And I know the blurple is no good according to the forum, it was a bday gift, lol. Hate not to use it. I bleached out some younger plants, I see more action on the flowering side now. Is that normal?
