Grow Closet Lighting HPS Questions....Please Help

Hello RIU. I am currently on my forth week of my closet grow. I am using a total of about 225 watts of 2700k to flower one White Widow. Everything is going DANK. I am also using the Fox Farms Lineup.

However, I now have enough money to make the switch to HPS/MH. Im not going to install everything until this grow is done, but what I need to know is what is my best
option as far as HPS/MH size wattage goes. I must note that this is a closet that can only bring air in with the sliding closet doors open. I have no option for exp. ventilation.
I have fans in my room forcing new air into the closet. The fans actually bring fresh air in from two near by windows in my room.

I was thinking a 400 watt would be ideal, but I really would like the recommendations of more exp. growers. So, the closet measures ( it doesnt now, because it has a divider, but once I take that divider out it will measure) : 65''H X 23''W X 51''L.
So, if I am still able to calculate sq. ft. I believe that works out to about 8.14 sq. ft.
However, I am unsure if that is correct:joint:

I will be using a CO2 system( picked up at rummage sale for 4$) so I am not all that worried if the temps get into the 90's. I have a great deal of fanworks outside of the closet pushing fresh cool air in from the outdoors :)

I really appreciate any advice. Any comments are also welcomed. Thank Again:hump:

I think a 400 is all you will be able to manage unless you go cool tube. even a 400 cool tube for that space would be better.

Pardon my ignorance on lighting, but what exactly is a cool tube? I take it that it just does a better job of cooling without inline fans? Thanks for the recommendation. I agree with you, I think that is all that I can handle. I was thinking 400watt hps with some cfl side lighting :) Thanks wiseguy

Sweet! I just picked up a 400watt MH/HPS switchable off ebay with the cool tube and reflector. Super Stocked! Thanks for the advice wise guy. I do have one questions. What do you think would be a safe limit for number of females. I was thinking 4 at max. The one white widow I got going now is taking up a 1/4 of the closet so that is just my ruff estimate. I am at lesat going to get a good 2 zips of this one plant, if not more, so I think 4 would set me perfectly. What are your thoughts on the number I can go with for flowering females?

i wouldn't reccommend more than 6 some do more but they keep em smaller. 4 to 6 depending on the size you let them grow. I think the cool tube is the way to go for your situation. Will save you lots of headaches & keep the co2 in your closet if done right. glad to help.

the thing about a 400 is it only has 24 inches of light penetration so no need to grow trees. 6 smaller plants would give you better yield than 4 large ones..unless you go with lower side lighting. plenty of variables.

i have pulled 4.5 off one plant using a 400. 2 is low but still very realistic.
Yeah unfortunetly I am still using cfls to finish off the white widow. While CFLS are easy to work with and will certianly grow some DANK, they just dont do what HPS does as far as yield goes in my opinion. Once again, thanks for all the help +REP

no problem, did you get a fan for the light yet?
Well I have no room for a inline fan within the closet, but I have plans of jimmy riggin some high powered fans and ducting to re route the hot air out of the room and to the outdoors. Moreso, I really dont want to dish out money on inline fans. They certianly dont give them away, and I can fabricate it all to work properly without having to dish out the extra dough :)

where i was going with this is....you could dual purpose a fan to cool the closet/light at this same time while providing air exchanges & pump it thru a filter(which will be required for 4 to 6 plants). I wouldn't be too concerned with the co2 for 4 to 6 plants, a good fan will provide plenty of co2 for the amount of plants we are talking about.....rerouting to the outdoors,,,be careful with that,,just depends how you do it.
