Grow box

I have been interested in a grow box and currently I'm in the design faze. With paramaters of 54"W x 27"D x 40"H how many plants would you suggest should be grown in that area using a hydroponic method? What is the recommended method of hydroponics to use? I mean doing it right with any necessary pumps or whatever. I am looking to put it on timers for lighting and watering. How much room do you suggest there be between each plant as to give it needed space?

As you can tell I'm new to the game so any advice would rock.

you culd get a real nice setup with those dimensions. im working with even smaller dimensions and am receiving great results. I would recomment a SoG method...or "Sea of Green". You do this by placing plants from the Veg. room to your Flowering room at a even set period...usually ever 2-4 weeks. By doing this...you will have a harvest every 2-4 weeks...and keep the cycle going.

The easiest method for Hydrop grtowing would either be Deep Water Culture or the Drip Method. Im currently in the research phase of the Drip Method because i got my hands on an old aquarium pump!

PM me or check the GrowFAQ for any more questions or concerns.

Yo passittotheleft, Sea of Green definately seems like the way to go. I was looking into using the drip method as well. I'd be willing to buy a few pumps and hoses to make it happen.

I am still not totally clear on the specifics of making a drip system though. I've been looking around, but it's hard to find details.

One more thing, when using the SOG methond how far aparth shouold the plants be spaced?
Basically what I was thinking:
-Take the 54" in length and use 12" to one side and make an area for a mother plant. So that would leave me with 42" to use for flowering. With the width of my enclusure being 27"
-I was kinda guessing 6 plants would fit nicely.

What do you think?
