Group seed planting?

Picked up some smoke that was a little seedy, so just for the hell of it I
thought that I would plant them to see if any would take. Well they did,
so far 5 out of the 15 have started and are of various height and about
a week old. The thing is, when I planted them, they were planted in
the same hole and now they are growing in a small cluster.
When or should I even bother separating them? Or should I just
leave them alone and let become on big bush as it grows?

I would definitely separate them now while the roots are still small.VERY carefully loosen the soil.

Thanks for the advice, another question for you then. I have a wide 10 gallon flower pot. would it be ok to transplant all 5 into that? I am just starting out and have been letting them get about 8hrs direct sunlight & about 4 grow light. Why you may ask? is because I am in Cali and the weather is still pretty decent here and trying to keep my electricity bill down.

I'd only put 1 plant in that planter. I find 10gal pots to be a good size for outdoors. I've had plants get rootbound in 5gal pots but not in the 10s. Look into smartpots, many people get great results with them. I tried a Smartpot this season and loved it.

I wouldn't recommend that big of a pot for small seedlings......you can easily over water seedlings in large pots. You can grow multiple plants in one container but I wouldn't recommend it either.First you want to know the sex of your seedlings and then you could throw a couple plants in that 10 gallon container but honestly I would put each plant in individual pots if it were me.Now if you had identical clones, throwing a few in a large container would work out better.Seedlings will vary in traits and could actually make growing them together a bit of a hassle.
