Green O Matic "The Maiden Voyage"

@Deltsy

Thanks for keeping this log. It's very useful to me. I am growing some G'Matics under 600W MH/HPS too. (see my sig) About a month behind you. Mine are in 3 gal pot

Rules of thumb for yield are 2Watts per gram and 1 gal soil per oz. Just rules of thumb. Experts can do a lot better and it varies by strain. Anyway this says your grow was a real success especially for a first grow!

This is my first auto grow. I think autos have a big future. They've come a long way already and will continue to improve, but there's a lot to be said for photoperiod strains.

A much wider selection which includes some amazing highs.

Cloning. If one of your plants is a real standout, you can clone new generations from her. With autos your only option is to make seeds and they may not come out like mom.

Control over the growing cycles. You can have a bunch of clones or vegging plants in a holding pattern waiting to go into the closet. This is especially useful if you are doing a staggered harvest.

So many strains so little growing space
. Yeah :) I grow several strains at once. I mostly use 3 gal mangum pots which are 9.5 sq. I can fit 9 under my hps lamp with good light coverage.

With careful canopy management I have pulled 1lb out of my 600W closet (5 plants in 7gal buckets). This was a high yielding strain. Still even 8oz of great weed in several different strains is a lot if you are just growing for your own head. If it's to sell that's another matter and a 1000W might make sense.

Instead of a 1000W lamp, you might consider a small veg closet with a 250W. That way you can veg in parallel with your flowering girls and you can run a staggered grow and harvest every few weeks.

Personaly, I don't care that much about yield, I am more interested in variety and quality highs. Almost any strain grown competently under a 600W will yield plenty of dope for one person.

And yeah, I too was disappointed in the participation in my grow log. You are doing a lot better than me :)

hey zuuv I appreciate all the info and you are right by those calculations cause the dry weight is in and its 10.8 ounces total dried weight. I think this is pretty good considering its an auto strain but I am definitly excited to try the wider variety of photos as soon as possible.

Why don't you just keep updating us on the G'O'Matic round you have right now?
May as well keep writing in this journal since we all know it's not going to stop anytime soon.

Yea I guess I could do that. Well in that case the blue himalayans are about a week old i guess i should snap some pics. Terrible germ rate from this 10 pack of short stuff seeds. got 4 out of 10. We know its not user error as I got a perfect10 out of 10 germ rate from my green o matics. I don't know if i'd buy short stuff seeds again.

Get us pictures of the Himilayans and the G'O'Matics.
What's the plan with the himilayans, are they autos?

If I buy a pack of lettuce seeds for $1.50 at the local hardware store I expect 90% germination rates. IMO if you are paying over $5 per seed anything less is unacceptable. My guess is the seeds were old or improperly stored. Were it me I would contact them. They look like a newish company and would probably be concerned about their rep. They might give you a replacement and the worst that can happen is they tell you to get lost.

On my first few grows I bought cheaper seeds, Nirvana etc. After several experiences with mediocre or erratic results with different phenos, I decided to use only first class genetics from then on. When I think about all the work, time, money and risk (I am growing illegally) that go into a plant, even $20 per seed seems like a trivial cost to make sure you are dealt a good hand.

Now I only buy gear from breeders like Serious, DNA, Dr Greenthumb (yeah $20/seed!!)

Did you get fem seeds or is it possible you might end up with only one girl out of the whole pack?

I urge you to check out tgagenetics.com or go to Forum->Organics->Subcool's Old School Organics
It's the breeders forum, and he has some serious genetics to dish out.

I think a pack of his seeds is like $25 or so from the attitude, so that would save you a massive amount of cash.
Check it out man.

to answer the first question yes the blue himalayans are autos. they are the last autos i will be doing for awhile. As far as replacement go thats not gonna happen. I already spoke to the attitude customer service and
as they require the dud seeds back for replacement they couldnt do anything for me because i threw the dud ones out not knowing about their policies. Now that I know i could just return any junk seeds that i receive. Either way green house seeds has been good to me which is why 3 of the 4 photo strains i wil be running will be their seeds. I hear a lot of bashing about them but they have been great so far. Ill keep everyone posted and who knows, if i get great germ rates on these ones too i may do green house seeds exclusively.

I've never used gear from Green House Seeds. I've heard that recently their top breeder left and started up as Mr Nice. I dunno. It's all gossip. If their gear is good and they treat you right that trumps any number of internet discussions.

Return the seeds? Bah. Sounds like a BS move to me. I'm not a breeder but I would guess that seeds are like software, the actual cost to the breeder for each seed is probably quite small and most of the price reflects the investment in development.

I just went a little bonkers and bought a bunch of pick'n mix from Sannae's & Atitude which includes a couple of TGAsubcool's strains.

I like the idea of using subcool's gear since I know him from the Super Soil discussions.

There you go. No hassle. No problem. It probably cost them $5 to replace the seeds and for it they get customer loyalty and favorable posts on the grow forums.

hey everyone just wanted to say i sold every bit of equipment i have. I have no plans on doing this anymore. The main goal for this whole thing was to make my wife feel better and marijuana makes her symptoms ten times
worse. I dont know what i was thinking in the first place but i cantsee how anyone could benefit from this drug. I ask all of you to take a good look at your lives and assess where your going in it. If its not the path you like
then I would definitly give up this stupid plant that is most likely holding you back in life. I wish all the best for all of you and also that your eyes are opened as mine have been to the harmful and detrimental effects of marijuana that you don't see right away.

Thanks for having a mind of your own. Too many people that enjoy this plant don't realize that it is just a plant.
I'm glad you had the heart to help your wife, I dearly wish her good health.
You were thinking, in the first place. You are only human deltsy, have no shame.
Some people can, some can't.
Growing these plants isn't a matter of how many buds I get, or how much money I make.
For me it's the simple fact that I enjoy life, a lot.
In personality, I'd rather take care of a person, dog, plant, fish, anything.
I like to help nature out.
I should and will be a biologist some day, but no idea where that will take me.
Thanks Deltsy, you are one of the Human Beings, that has the heart to be a Human Being.
Enjoy what you have, really.
Smoking anything can induce Lung Cancer. Becoming a ritual smoker can be Mentally Devastating in multiple ways.
Care free, losing friends, jobs, time, stress.

If you are reading this Deltsy, you don't have to grow pot to come on here and say hi.
So we'd better hear from you now and again.

Have a great day, summer, and life.
Glad you and your wife are happy.
And thanks for the Maiden Voyage.
