Granddaddy Purple/Pineapple Express Is this a late bloomer? Anyone grown this before?

A pop quiz for the expert grower.....

Genetics: gdp/pineapplexpress hybrid.

Soil, ph 6.8, Big Bloom Tiger Bloom, Molassis. Plenty of nutes. lights 1250w HPS, 540w LED (alleged equivilent of 2000w hps). 12x10 room 12 girls 4 feet tall.

So who has grown this? I am wondering about the budding cycle. Does this strain put on weight in the last 2 weeks? Or should they be filled out by week 5?

Most strains I know put their weight on from weeks 2-5. weeks 6-8 are usually about getting denser and furry.

I read online some strains burst in the last few weeks. Perhaps GDP is one of these?

So my question is, "does this strain or hybrid grow modest in the first 5-6 weeks due to its genetics and will it put on weight in the last few weeks?"

One would argue even creating the perfect environment will not help a late bloomer fill out early.

I am looking for expert comments from people who have grown this. +rep to the first one with a good answer.

I searched here, and google for a thread but could find an answer. Thanks!

I don't think you're going to run across a lot of heads that have grown this one out b4, so if you hear something that sounds good you might want to run with it.

My only offering would be to say that in my experience mostly-indica strains swell during weeks 6-8 and can pack on an extra 25% easy if you let em go properly. Sativas usually seem to have several 'bursts' along the way, with nothing extraordinary occurring during the last few weeks. But like you say, it's different for every strain really and I don't have experience with this one.

The cross sounds great though!

They call it GDE in my area and about a year ago it became very popular.

Granddaddy purp is a cross of purple urkle and big bud. This gives it higher yield with all of the punch. Pineapple express gives a higher yield, so the theory is this cross should give more weight while retaining the prety purple qualities of GDP. Also it tones down the citrus like taste of PAE.

I came across a few posts from 2008 here of people growing GDP, but they never finished the thread.

and I agree with you DC. IME sativas would burst in the first weeks but would do nothing but furr up in the last couple of weeks. Nice to know Indicas swell at the end. That would make logical sense. I am just looking for real confirmations on this particuliar strain.

If you look at the leaf structure, they look like a 50/50 hybrid, long sativa like fingers which are wider like a indica. So really hard to tell. But if I had to guess, I would say it is leaning towards indica than sativa based on internodals and structure. If indicas indeed put on wieght in the end, that seems to fit the scenario.
