not necessarily, it's all about phenotypes...it could be gdp grown from a seed or a clone that just doesn't have the purple trait.

if you smoked purple before you should know but some people will sell you some kind of kush and try saying its purple the only way to be 100% is to go to the club

I picked up some GDP from a dispensary in San Diego a couple of months ago. It was not purple. But it was awesome. I went to back to get more - all out. Disclaimer: It was my first time seeing/smoking it, so I have no frame of reference.

ive heard that higher temps will kill some of the color.the stuff was prob purple when grown in the netherlands, but doesnt show any color grown in warmer areas or inside.then again i did read that on the internet, lol

As has been said above, some purple strain plants dont express the purple color trait and some do. Most seed banks will give a disclaimer such as "90% of plants will turn purple during flowering" The temperature also plays a role in expressing a darker color or not. Last summer i got some grand daddy purp and some of the nugs had purple bud and some didnt, all of them were dank though!! haha gotta love grand daddy purp whether its purple or not!
