Grand Daddy Purple Shed Grow (1000w MH/HPS-12 plants)

-- DAY 1 --


Ok guys so here is my latest grow.. (even though I havent harvested my first grow yet lol. but I am close..).. so far this is what I got

a 9x9 shed in my backyard that I built
sheetrocked and roofed off and insulated
an A/C unit installed in the wall
Xtrasun 1000 watt switchable ballast
(1) 1000w MH bulb
(1) 1000w HPS bulb
HydroFarm Hood
FoxFarm Ocean Forest Soil
(12) 5 Gallon pots
(12) Grand Daddy Purple fully rooted clones
Small heater in the room just in case

This is now my 3rd grow, my first grow was outdoor, and that went "okay" and then Im currently growing 8 plants inside my house (search "First grow.. all help appreciated" to view that journal) for my first indoor grow, im in 2nd week of flowering on that grow.. and now Ive built a shed in my backyard, its 9ft x 9ft, I got a 1000w MH bulb on 12 GDP clones right now, 18/6 light schedule, I planted them last night in Ocean Forest soil.. the light is 3ft above the plants now.. the room gets cold.. (about 60-70 degrees during day, and about 50-60 degrees during night, with the light on, or so the A/C unit's temp gauge says anyway) I really dumped a little bit of money into this grow.. (close to $1100 bucks) so i do NOT wanna fu** this up.. and I do want to try and recover some of the funds I spent so I am hoping for a good yield!.. So ill need some help from other indoor growers on here as I go.. so this is Day 1 of my grow.. pictures are below.. the clones were planted last night.. they were fully rooted so i hope they pull through.. (ive got some crappy clones before!).. any comments/advice/help is all appreciated!!

Ok, How long do you guys think I should veg these clones?? someone told me veg for 2-3 weeks then flip to 12/12.. that seemed like a short period to veg to me but I could be wrong.. any suggestions??? considering I will be using 1 light for 12 plants in a 9x9 area

The GDP clones seem to be doing good, they must have already grown an inch or so... So im guessing they took well with the soil.. I will get some pics up soon.. Anyone got any suggestions on how long I should flower these girls??

nice set up! i say veg em till theyre at least 2' tall.

Those will be great plants.......you need to line your walls with mylar asap! You're wasting the majority of your light. I'd get a roll of panda plastic and line the floor with white too. That way you get good light on the undersides, and your plants will love you for it! You could even kill two birds with one stone, and buy a big roll of the panda plastic, and just run it around the walls too, so you don't have to buy seperate products, and they both are very effective. You won't believe how much brighter the space is when your done.

I will try to get some mylar asap and line the walls.. in the meantime.. here are a few pics, I think the plants look like they took well to the soil, I can't really tell, but it looks like they've grown a bit, what do you guys think??

-- DAY 6 --

They are looking good, the soil was a bit dry today, the top layer of the soil looked like dust it was so dry! but the pots still felt like they were heavy?? heavy with water, but I still gave them all a nice watering because the soil looked dry to the bone on top and some were dry when I stuck my finger in, but anywho, heres some more pics, they have almost been planted for a week, it will be 1 week starting tomorrow, what ya guys think??

-- VEG - Today is start of Week 2 of Veg, You guys think I should flip to 12/12 the end of 2 week veg?? and what do you guys think of topping?? these are GDP clones, I don't know if I should top them or not (even tho i am not very good at topping) I have topped my plants in my other grow and they seem to be doing alright.. what ya guys think?

-- VEG -- Day 3 of Week 2

They are looking good, my only concern is it seems kinda dusty in there.. but the plants are growing great.. will dust be a problem for me??


Oh yeah, I got the FoxFarm Trio Lineup, includes Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom, I have already made the first batch of nutrients for it, using a 1/2 tbsp of Big Bloom and 1/2 tbsp of Grow Big, I will get these nutes to it on the next watering, I started light to see how they react

Is anyone still reading this? I Have a few questions...

1. It's kinda dusty in the room I built, I can see dust build-up slightly around the pots, I got a fan blowin on them, I don't really see any dust blowing other then that, is this a major problem?

2. When should I flip these GDP clones to 12/12?? Ive been getting mixed answers, can someone just tell me the best time to flip them to 12/12?
(Ive been told to flip 12/12 after two weeks in veg, Ive been told to flower when they are 14" inches tall, Ive also been told to flower when they are 24" tall)

3. Topping.. ? Do i top these gals or no?? (Ive topped before with success but I don't really know how or what I was doing when I did it, I just cut above the nodes on the top of my other plants)

if anyone can help me with these questions that would be great! and guys, sub this journal and journey with me through my grow!!

Take all the plants out and get a air hose and blow that shit out. your gonna be smoking that if you dont when their flowering

3. Topping.. ? Do i top these gals or no?? Good luck i love gdp and your setup is looking real good.

Whats up Fatty looking nice veg. time all depends on you how much vertical space do you have i know its 9 by 9 but how tall and about the dust try to find something to lay on the floor maybe like the panel syle insulation id would help keep temps stable too but im with you subbed im also 2 weeks into flowering in my closet check my sig. but im subbed up for the ride oh yeah try to put ur grow of inside in your sig. it will get looked at more and get more input and more advice good luck

I think you should fim or top either way, I top just because thats what I was taught. How much hight do you have to work with? After topping, which you could do now, veg for another few weeks and flip them. Uncle bens topping techniques and I think al b fuct has a thread on fiming you need to read they are great, look in advanced it will be a sticky.

Hey Fatty you should try lst alot less stressful for ur ladies and doesnt slow down growth like top fim or supercropping does i think youll like it just remember ur counter tie or just lst it to itself and youll have many top colas like fim just remember to try an keep all tops that grow 2 inches above the rest to retie them down and more undergrowth will get bigger.

I got them 24 inches away from the light, don't you think 12 inches is a bit close?

Yea i think 12 is real close for a 1000 are u pullin air through it if not ur good if so 12-16 will work just do the hand test to hot for u is to hot for them.

If its cooled properply u can have it 6 inches away.
