So thanks to RMH, a few of us are the proud recipients of some private stock beans. Well per his request cowboylogic and myself are going to be growing some out. The first up are a Purple Head Knocker X White Widow he calls Purple Rain. The next one is a strain called Isis. Not sure of the background and to tell ya truth not sure he told me. But anyway, I myself started 3 PR, 3 Isis, and of some previous gifted beans that are Purple Kush X's. The same one's in my Sig that I just put into flower. The beans went into the humidity dome with a pan of water in between the dome and the heating to act as a thermo mass for an even temp. Cowboy got his PR's to pop in 63hrs! Not a bad rate if ya ask me. We plan on running a dual and maybe a triple journal with another grower but the numbers don't work out right now for him. We are hoping he joins in later though.

So I will shut up for now and maybe cowboy will join in. Here is a couple pics of the humidity dome set-up.

Peace

Right on Big, much appreciated.

Here's the breakdown on the genetics and these are F1 crosses, at this point, not strains. I was gifted beans from an old friend long ago which he called Purple Head Knocker aka. PHK. The PHK is (Trainwreck-the arcata cut x Durban Poison). So the Purple Rain is (Trainwreck-arcata x Durban Poison) x (White Widow)

The Isis comes from my Goddess Plant. Goddess is (PHK x AK-47). Isis is (Goddess x White Widow) so the lineal looks like this [(Trainwreck-arcata x Durban Poison) x (AK-47)] x (White Widow)

Hope that helps guys.

Right on brother, thanks for the breakdown. Still learning about this breeding stuff. Just trying to get this growing thing down a little better.

Man was I ripped when I wrote that. Had just smoked a sample bud from the grow and hot damn! She was awesome and only six weeks old. I can't believe it took me 34 years to become a "closet" grower. I wish I had the money I spent on swag and those " I think its weed sac's", I would have one bad ass set-up by now! lol

I ran out of peat pellets but will get some today and plant 3 of the Isis. So I hope to have 5 Purple Rains and 3 isis. Plus I am going to include the 3 Querkles here if you do not mind.

Welcome aboard. And you bet this gonna be fun!!!!!! F'in a skippy.
2-400 watt CMH and a 600 Hortilux HPS. Seeing how they are performing side by side and stand alone in my current grow. I plan to veg the first 2 weeks or so under T-8s. It a DIY 6 bulb. 3-4 tube ballasts. But each ballast only fires 2 bulbs. Kicks the ouput up to about 1.7 times. Then remainder of veg and early flower will be 400 CMH. In the middle of flower sometime I will be switching to the 600 HPS for a few weeks for some beefing up then back to the CMH to finish.

Won't let me change the thread title, just the post title? And I am LMFAO too. I was so blazed when I started this thread. I still can't get over how good that sample was. Might have to consider giving her the chop?

Can't wait to see what the 400CMH does myself. I know that I like the increased speed of growth I have seen on the ones I put into flower 7 days ago. Nice tight nodes is what I am seeing.

Well almost 48 hrs exactly and we got a Purple Rain ready to pop out. Cowboy got his to show at around 43 hrs I believe so I am pretty happy with that. :hump: That is the fastest time to see movement for me. I am glad I found that heating pad and thanks for the water idea cowboy. Definitely helped to keep the temps even. Staying around 85 + or - 2 degrees. Definitely gonna have to get a expendable crock pot, the heating mat is on high and that is as hot as I can get the temp up to. Not complaining though.

Peace

Well done Big. 85+ is right in the ballpark. But I agree, I think a crockpot will be more efficent and safer.

My other 3 PRs were up and about this morning. Just over 60 hrs again. The Isis were planted a day later so we should see them tomorrow. And by Sunday all should be cups. I will post a pic of the group then.

I am really looking forward to this grow. Its going to be great to have the League of Super Heros involved! LOL

Happy Trails..............

The seedlings are off and running now. It's been less than 72 hrs and 7 of 8 are up. A couple of them are still shedding their helmets but still looking good. Cracked the dome for some fresh air and hung a 26w 6500k over them to hold the stretch down.

So here is the status. As you know the PR was the first to pop along with another last night. All three Isis are up as well as the 2 PK's. We will have to see if the third PR shows herself and if not I'll get another one going.

I wrote in an earlier post that I was using a heat mat and pan of water as a thermo mass to 1, raise the temps inside of the humidity dome and 2, Maintain a steady temperature. Well by doing this, I have shortened the germination rate to less than 72 hour. That is half of what they were using my previous method. Party cups and on top of the water heater. It was even longer than that when I used the wet paper towel method. And I must say I have had less seedling issues since putting the beans straight into soil.

Here is a link I took from davecoulier, it talks about the effect's of heat and seed germination.

Thanks brother, ya for sure gonna do the crock pot. Definetly more efficent and safe, although I gave the heat mat a good look over. It is the waterproof type and the cover is in good condition with no tears or rips.

Enjoying it already myself even though I'm an apprentice still. I'm off to get some multy tasking done.

Thats a good read. Have read it many times. And of course MJ is not on the list. But I can tell you this from experience. The temp can be anywhere from 85 to 95 for MJ. I shoot for somewhere in the middle. They key is keeping it constant within that range, +/-1 or 2 degrees. If it varies a bit more you will still have great success. Maybe just a bit slower. And Big is so right, Plant them beans right in a nice wet starter pellet. The less you handle them the less chance of damage or introducing disease.
