Got only half of what I expected :(

I was expecting at least 1.5 pound/1000w HPS but only came out close to 0.85 pound :S The buds looked very nice big and juicy before drying but after it's dried there was no weight. At first I thought the scale was wrong or the difference between hydroponics and soil but I talked to some others and they said they have similar problems. We concluded that it could be the pH and the fact that the water has 260ppm of waste or whatever it is in it. Anyone else have similar problems? What if I use a reverse osmosis machine would it boost my yields dramatically in this case?

260 ppm would have the kind of affect your looking to get.

Where did you come up with this figure of how much you were going to yield?

Also, there are TONS of other factors that will affect yield such as basic genetics to the type of nutes used as well as CO2 exchange, etc. Also, how many crops do you have under your belt in this setup? If this is your first crop or first crop in this setup then you still have to dial it in. You will never reach the genetic potential of your seeds if your not dialed in...that means nutes, co2, heat, cold, RH...like I said, alot of factors.

My .02

PS: Good job on the grow even though it didnt meet your expectations.

well my expected yield came from my experiences in the past..I've always gotten between 1.2-1.7 in the past.

The only difference now is the setup and the water but I figured that its not the setup because few other people that are doing soil also got under 1 pound. The difference is between the cities where the PH and the TDS are different. I also have full Co2 of around 1500ppm

I can't really think of any other factors right now except for the water.. but let's say its the water...my question is would 1.5-2 pH over on the scale (7-7.5 as opposed to 5.5-6) and 260ppm of whoknowswhat really cut my yield in half?

I assume the only way to know for sure is to go to RO, I make weekly runs to my local water purification shop, always get it 0 ppm and 7.0 exactly, I just ph to 5.8 for the hydro girls and 6.5 for the soil girls and I am good to go. There is a availability chart around somewhere that will show which nutes are locked out a specific ph levels.

Also, not sure but the chlorine in your tap water may have some bad effects to.
