A blend of the two works very well, indeed. I use HF all the way, but either are a great soil. Just don't use straight OF for the young ones or you will end up with crispy critters!

thank you very much. ya'll think there would be a need for any additional nutes? imma go autoflower so the soils only gonna be used for about 8-9 weeks.

I got a good amount of seedlings in FFOF and they're doing fine, many others report this also

I am sick of people saying this shit... here is a picture of my two plants sitting in Ocean Forest FROM SEED...

Damn... that shit looks crispy doesn't it

Ocean forest compacts ALOT after a few waterings if it isnt cut with something.
The fluffier your soil mix, the better. you will be able to squeeze in more feeds that way.
Fox farm also makes a soilless mix called light warrior. It is made for seed starting and clones. mixed together with OF, its deadly...lol
The only problem with the FF line is that its a bit deficient in Mg, but just grab some cal mag plus and your set.
Hope this helped.

ur gunna need nutes man. JUST DONT GET FOX FARMS NUTES!!!!!!!! FUCK THOSE SHITS! well if u want bud of course. OF did fine with my seeds, ive never even heard they burned seeds, just that u dont need nutes fer a good 2-3 weeks cuz the soil has sum in it. and a lil perlite like i said help the drainage and compacting problem tho, even tho its not a super bad problem tho.

very nice, answers my question w/out a doubt.lol. using any additives at all or just good ol water?
Distilled water for the first three weeks about (17 days from sprout to be exact). After that I have been using a light feeding regiment with a a fox farms big bloom and grow big mix. (about 1/2 tbls of big bloom and 1/4 tsp of grow big per gallon) every other watering. gradually increasing potency of nutes. hope that helps you. I have never used any other fertilizers so I can't give you any suggestions on others sorry.

sorry if anyone thinks i gave bad info. from my personal experiences with the FF line, OF always seemed to be harsh as fuck on rooted clones, as compared with HF or LW. notice in my earlier post that i stated 'don't use straight OF for the young ones', and excuse me if i mis-spoke or was un-clear, but i was referring more to rooted clones, and not so much seedlings. i think it is obvious to say that a seed started in a high nutrient medium will fare much better than a freshly rooted clone, whose roots have had minimal nutrient exposure.

anyone use technaflora products w/ ffof? ive used the recipe for success starter kit a few different times and i like them personally but i wanna know what would be best. im trying to set my room mate up for success before i move out and this will be his first venture into any kind of cultivation so id like to make it as beginner friendly as possible.

Can I ask why the beef with Fox Farm? is the lack of Mag and other micro nutes that bad?

I'm asking because I'm using fox Farm Grow Big for my hydro Grow and haven't had any issues with it but I'm about to flower and don't wanna be dealing with the same issue I had with Bio-Bizz "Bio-grow" which had like .1 Phosphorous, wtf?

Agreed, I mix them too, and am quite happy with the results. Also, either will work great on it's own, i just mix them because i feel like it.LOL I also agree that OF is a little rich for the young ones, although alot of strains can handle it just fine. Never tried the Happy Frog on little ones, so i can't say how that would do. I'm guessing it's about as rich as the OF, but not positive. I hear of alot of guys using Light Warrior for the little ones, with good results, so that might be a good idea. I'm going to pick some up the next time i hit the hydro shop.

yea man, its a problem wen all the fan leafs decide to die. lol. BUT the beef is ive done about 3-4 grows with them involved, 2 different strains too, and had issues with all of them, and its not a "oh i over-watered!" NAW, its a FUK! lil dots all over my fan leafs, and that will cause great yield reductions, stunted growth, even possible death (if it gets bad enough rapidly enough) just look at the feeding schedule, switch to tiger bloom RIGHT at flowering, that shit cant handle the N needed fer the elongation process (stretch)
