Got 14 seedlings in partycups, can they stay there till they show sex?

I got 14 seedlings in partycups going on 2 weeks old or so.

Can I keep them in partycups until they show their sex?

I ask because I dont want to go out and buy 14 pots and a whole lot of dirt only to find out X of them are female so I would rather wait.

What do you guys think of this? What should I do in this situation?

I would say no, the method I use is taking some old 2 liter bottles or milk jugs and cut the top off and use them until I know what I want to keep (I use my old Distilled Water jugs). Most people have something laying around they could use until the sex shows. Takes a while for the sex to show and if you've got them in cups they'll out grow them before they usually show, you might be able to if you don't mind them being dwarfs.

I dont feel like cutting up 14 milk jugs or whatever besides dont have that many... should I just go buy 14 pots and some soil for the next couple of weeks before I put them into their final pot?

right now i have 14 seedlings at 2 weeks in partycups, last time i grew 4 females in 5 gallon pails, this time I want to switch them to 12/12 as soon as I see sex which I am guessing will be around 4 weeks.

What size pots should I buy for now to put the 14 seedlings in, and what size pot should I transplant the X/14 females in 2 weeks from now.

My plan is to LST them a lot so they are no taller than a foot or two. I am hoping to have 7-8 females and I don't have room nor do I think I need 5 gallon pails anymore, I am thinking something like 2-3 gallon would be fine in this setup?

no just buy the 16oz party cups not the 8oz and u should be fine. plus the 16's are blue not red (assume blue blocks out light better for roots)

Get the pots and soil. Those you don't use you will have for clones from the ones you do use.

I am using the 16oz blue ones...

a few different opinions here...

obviously it would be easier if I didn't have to buy any pots until I know how many ladies I have...

how big of pots should I get once I do know how many ladies I have? 2,3 gallon?

it depends on when you want them to show sex? If you put them into 12/12 when they are only a week or so old it will be fine. If you want them to go longer before flowering you need bigger pots if you don't want to stunt the plants.

Yeah, party cups are fine till sexed. That's how I do evey one of mine..... When you transplant, make effort not to stress.

ok awesome thanks.

how big of pots should I transplant them to once they show sex? I plan on switching them to 12/12 once they show sex, somewhere around 1 month old.

I want to keep them short and do LST, I used to use 5gal pails, I assume I need something smaller for this like maybe 2-3gal? Do I want a wide pot?
