Ive used ffof as my base for about 10yrs. and it used to be great. Now its splintery and full of gnats.

So I'm trying this local soil and loving it.

looks good, although I don't like the soybean meal, that mix has damn near every organic amendment in it.

Yeah I feel the same way . I actually have a food allergy to Soy .
Not to mention its phytoestrogen effects !
But maybe that might stave off hermie tendencies.:bigjoint:

I added neem meal in case there was still FFOF gnats around.
But I haven't seen any new ones.

I hear ya on the soy, and funny enough, not many know about the effect it has on guys.
And soy is in damn near everything now days.
It's ok as a nutrient, but you can do better (alfalfa meal for example), it's not a bad one, I just think for it's modest NPK values that you can do better with other nutrients.
It's not like cottonseed where it jacks up your PH, I don't like it either because of all the GMO going on with soy products. Not to mention the spraying.

That's a damn fine bagged soil IMO. How big are the bags, and what do they charge for them?

If you pick up from them :
Bags (10 gal): $9.00
Pallet (66 bags) 10% off. They'll also deliver unbagged in bulk for cheaper.
From the shop in town its $13.

They also make a hotter blend that's not as porous as this called Gaia’s Gift. I haven't tried it yet.

I've added yucca extract to feedings before and imo this precharged yucca breaks the water surface tension way better.
I have used the coconut extract that is a surfactant, I think it's called coco wet or something like that, works similar from what I have read
