Actually he is right. Pits werent bred to be guard dogs, they were bred to fight and be very human friendly so they could be handled by numerous strangers during fights. They have changed since then, they are basically ruined at this point. A good breed gone terribly wrong.
There have been lines that are obviously not pure lines that somehow got papered as well. I agree, it's a breed that's been screwed with royally by a lot of ignorant "breeders".

Any Mastiff makes an excellent guard dog, however not all mastiffs are meant for all owners. I really wouldn't recommend such a breed without dog experience and an ability to control it effectively. I see many who get in over their heads. They are big and can hurt someone accidentally, so control is a must.
I agree - I have had big dogs prior to this one (my biggest yet at 151 last vet visit).
A couple of years ago I had a couple of commercial crab fishermen over (I mention that just to illustrate that they were very strong/athletic young men) & they thought (separate incidences) that it would be fun to "Play" with the big dog. One dude decided to sit on my fucking dog like a horse & the dog turned around like lightning (with the dude sitting on his back - feet up). He landed on his ass & I came very close to giving him "what for" as well for jeopardizing my dog's back/hips. Second time another dude opened my sliding glass door while big dog is doing "superman" barking his ass off & standing on his hinds. Dude ended up flat on his back on the porch with the dog over him.
The dog is not violent in the least (he's actually a big cuddle bug), but I always warn the younger dudes about playing with him rough.

My Pit terrior could hear my fence being jump and be on it in secs my nighboor got bit several times snooping around she die at age 14 i adopted a Great Pyrenees from my local pound a year 100_0585.3551116_std.JPG

i adopted a Great Pyrenees from my local pound she was just a baby now she about 125 pounds very aggressive to things she knows shouldn't be there and loves kids they ride her like a horse...

i even watch here give my nightbors pit a run for his money he doesn't have a right ear now -.-

The Great Pyrenees is a capable and imposing guardian, devoted to its family, and somewhat wary of strangers—human and canine. It is often used to guard livestock. When not provoked, it is calm, well-mannered and somewhat serious. Courageous, very loyal and obedient. Gentle and affectionate with those he loves. Devoted to family even if self-sacrifice is required. It is very gentle with its family and children. It does best with children when it is raised with them from puppyhood, and if it is not being used as a working flock guard be sure to socialize it well with people, places and noises. It has an independent nature, and may try to dominate a less secure or meek owner, and/or an owner who treats the dog as if he is human, becoming stubborn or territorial. Owners need to be firm, but calm, confident and consistent with the dog. Setting rules the dog must follow and stick to them. The Great Pyrenees is a serious worker, but very independent. Be patient when training the Great Pyrenees, as it may be slightly difficult. If left alone inside the home without the proper amount of exercise and or leadership it can become destructive. The Great Pyrenees is good with non-canine animals, and usually loves cats. These dogs do not reach maturity until they are about 2 years old. Some are not good off the leash and may wander away. They need an owner who understands and practices natural dogmanship. The Great Pyrenees tends to bark a lot and some tend to drool and slobber.

I have always used German Shepherd's, they are smart enough to know to never hurt a child and to determine which adult's are the bad guy's. I brush my biggest male and bag the hair for deer repellant and he always goes to the next batch before me to check out everything. You just cant get past than nose, you can be buried 3 feet down and Sniper will find you. I regretted naming him that because if you yell sniper around some of my friend's they hit the ground so he comes to bird noises now.

Did i ever mention my Teacup Chihuahua? I call her a Chihuahuacabra, meanest dog I've ever had. She's fought Shepherd's, pit bulls, Hawk's.The Hawk got her into the air and she started fucking it up so it dropped her she shook it off but was a little sore later.

WARNING VIOLENT VIDEO OF TWO DOGS ATTACKING MAN - NO BLOOD

I believe the breed is either German Shepard or Malinois, the only two I'm familiar with that look like the dogs in the video.

German shepherds for me. However are you an experienced handler because if not then you will need to do some training classes. My friends brought up 3 great kids, all UNI grads, non smoking drinking children. They get a GSD and it's wild and they are now scared of it. It's bitten them and drawn blood. My bf and I would have reprimanded it heavily as a pup. Bit (pardon the pun) late now. I had a GSD when I was 11 yrs old but my parents took me to weekly classes.

Get a whole hoard of dogs to protect you. :D someone who breaks in cant shoot/attack back ALL of them. Although I'm the type of person to jump in front of a bullet for my pets, defeating the purpose....lol.

anyway, I hear that Airedale terriers can be good guard dogs if trained correctly. But for a more common guard dog, German Shepard or dobermans are good (as a lot of people have already stated.) if you're allergic to dog fur or anything though, Airedales are a good choice since they have hair and don't generally shed :3 (bad is that you have to groom them)

Just some LOCAL CITY deer.... I SWEAR I WAS CHILLIN with them one night! 3 of em'!!!!! 1 buck and 2 doe! I'm usually an indoor tripper... I decided to take my dog out...then thought NAHHH....I don't wanna deal with dogs. So I walk out to my back yard(in the city) and hear a funny sound. DEER sounds!! I was surrounded by deer......NO LIE!!! TRIPPIN BAAALLLLLS!!! So I just sat down..... They didn't mind me ONE BIT! My dogs just watched from the window...and didn't make a sound.. My woman freaked out and sat inside with them... SO I HAD the experience of a lifetime... all by myself. It was pretty cool to say the least. We were vibin'!
