id use 2 of the 15W "100 W replacement" for each cfl and ill bet it does the same or better with less power consumption

This looks like a good thread to ask this question. I built a homemade reflector box that houses 10 CFL bulbs . If I removed the CFL bulbs and replace those with LED bulbs would it help my grow. 3x2 space
On ICmag there's a microgrower who has done a shitload of growing with both CFL and LED bulbs.

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=190726&page=209

He had pretty much the same yields with 1/3rd-1/2 wattage when he switched to LED.

It has mostly to do with LEDs being directional so no/much less wasted light to the side or up.

Could I up the wattage of a LED light bulb and possibly get a better grow ? This is my first grow and I'm trying to not purchase an actual grow light

i think you'll be surprised how well those 15W bulbs work. theyre the most efficient and most cost effective in that class of bulbs right now

I did a grow with LED A19 bulbs from home depot, 12x 1600 lumens (100w equivalent) in a 4sqf cabinet, first grow and got 3.5 oz. Soil and basic 20-20-20 nutes without checking ph or ppm

c99 photo, vegged until 1 foot tall then flowered to 3.2 feet
If I ever use A19 again I will remove the globe (made of plastic on LED)
I don't understand the whole veg and flower thing on photos, I thought you were supposed to veg for much longer and flower for a short period?

Alright I'll try to explain the life cycle of the plant

First, the seed pops and the plant is in germination and in the vegetative stage. The plant will keep growing and stay in vegetative stage until you leave its light schedule close to 18-6. If the plant is auto, it will go into flowering by itself and will gain 2-3.5x its height. If the plant is not auto, you have to simulate the flowering stage by switching the light schedule close to 12-12. When the flowering stage is finished, you can harvest. Most strain are around eight to ten weeks of flowering until harvest. Mine was nine.

So the trick is to veg until the plant has 1/3 of its desired final height.

Ok so they auctuall do most of the growing during flowering.

I'm at day 16 with autos and regs together. I think ive already made a bunch of mistakes but I'm learning. My regs are afghan and they are growing faster than the auto black creams and purple kush plants. I was hoping to put some outside but later learned that's not a good idea due to changing light schedules. I'm gonna ride it out and see what happens. So do you think I should see a crazy growth spurt next week in my autos? Here is a pic of the afghan reg, that is a 5 gal pot

Realistically you don't have enough of a budget to get good lighting to adequately cover a 4x4.

Personally im a fan of the strip lights like the samsung h series f series or bridgelux eb series, just be careful about buying from random chinese manufacturers selling them for a fraction of the price samsung themselves sells strips for. The likelyhood they are actually 561c diodes is very low.

If you do go with a strip light build heres a link that has at least 4 or 5 different DIY builds using them.

the top is just the end of one build but lower in the page you will see at least 4 more diy builds.

You would get more answers if you posted at the right place. Here, try making a thread in the beginners forum and people should answer you much quicker.
