Although the doctors in Dallas gave my mom a grim prognosis, her cardiologist he sending her down do Houston for another opinion.
This will be with one of the best Heart Surgeons in the country.

If she passes all the tests they will be doing open heart surgery then.
What they will be doing is replacing the aortic heart valve and and removing a dead section of her heart.
This will be a high risk surgery.

We will be leaving Saturday, We will be catching what's called "Angel Flight"
, With Angel Flight we will be catching a ride on a private plane and going to Houston and then there will be a ride waiting for us to take us to the hospital.

I'll have a family friend let me stay with him in Austin, which is 2 hours away.

I'll need some prayer and positive vibes sent out this way, we are going to need it.

This surgery is my mom's last chance of extending her life and give her any quality of life.

You got it dankster, God Bless and great luck be with you. I lost my mom 15 years ago. One never gets over their mom. I wish she was still here, but I'm pretty sure it won't be that long before I'll be visiting her.

Good luck, man. They got some of the best cardiologists in the world in Houston. Your mom could not be getting any better care.

BTW, I don't know how you drive, but it usually takes me more like 3 / 3.5 hours to drive to Austin.

Well Yesterday I got a call from the Doctor and the news isn't good.
It seems that it isn't the aortic heart valve that is the problem.
She has a aneurysm at the apex if the aortic heart chamber and there is just too much damage and the tissue of her heart is just too thin for them to mess with it.
I placed all my hopes on this trip, and it's all for not.
My mom is at peace with it, my soul is in turmoil.

I'll have to learn to except it, but it will take some time.
All I can do is keep her comfortable once I get her home until the inevitable happens.
I will have to wait until Monday before we can catch a flight out of here, even then it's iffy.
She may be here a while, as it seems that she now has some fluid on her lungs.

Well we went and picked my mom up from the hospital in Houston last night and brought her to my friend in Austin.
She is resting comfortably and we will be leaving back up to the Panhandle either Friday or Saturday evening.
